QafianSage Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 So, per RoW Ch73, Ulim says that the Everstorm has "been building in Shadesmar for centuries" - presumably, some kind of reflection of the Everstorm, similar to how the Highstorm appears in the Cognitive Realm as shimmering light in the sky - and that these manifestations are needed to bring Voidspren over into the physical world contained in gems. I wonder - if a slaveform singer was taken to Shadesmar and exposed to the Everstorm there, would it be likely for them to be 'freed' in the same way that the physical Everstorm did? Is there any evidence people know of for or against this idea?

Is there any evidence people know of for or against this idea? The storm he's talking about is the barrier storm around Braize in the Cognitive Realm. There is a constant storm surrounding Braize and Odium splintered a part of it and moved it slowly over years to Roshar, where Listeners were able to summon it. Until they summoned it to the Physical Realm, the Everstorm was physically in the Cognitive Realm, slowly moving from Braize to Roshar. I don't know what would happen if a Slaveform was taken to that storm, while it was in Shadesmar. It's possible it would cure them, but it's equally as likely that the storm needed to be first summoned to the Physical Realm to start working as intended. We have no information about this. RoW ch 86: Quote She didn’t quite understand his explanations of what was happening. But she knew a storm was mounting in Shadesmar. In fact, the storm had been building for generations—growing in fury, intensity. It barred the way to Damnation. That storm was where Ulim had originally come from. There were also thousands of another kind of spren in the storm: stormspren. Mindless things like windspren or flamespren. Venli had to find a way to pull those stormspren across and capture them. To that end, a large portion of the roiling storm had been broken off by the god of gods, the ancient one called Odium. This storm was his strength, his essence. Over painful months, he’d moved the storm across the landscape— unseen—until it arrived here. Kind of. Almost. RoW ch 89: Quote “One instead travels to other worlds through Shadesmar. But again, stay away from Braize. Even if you could get through the barrier storm, the place is barren, devoid of life." 1
QafianSage Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 Ah, okay - that's good to know the extra info on. Thank you very much for the detail, even if it's still kind of uncertain re: ending Slaveform.
