Mattel Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Here is a quote from Words of Radiance: Quote WoR: Chapter 74 Light came from above, too steady to be lightning. Something was glowing on the plateau. Something moved. It was hard to see, since water streamed off the side of the plateau above, falling in a sheet before their refuge. He swore he saw an enormous figure walking up there, a glowing inhuman form, followed by another, alien and sleek. Striding the Storm. Leg after leg, until the glow passed. This is from when Shallan and Kaladin are sheltering from the highstorm while stuck in the chasms. Quote from Oathbringer: Quote OB: Chapter 19 An explosive burst of wind drove him against the wall, and he stumbled, then stepped backward, driven by instincts he couldn't define. A large boulder slammed into the wall, then bounced away. Dalinar glanced and saw something luminous in the distance: a gargantuan figure that moved on spindly glowing legs. Dalinar stepped back up to the feast hall, gave the whatever-it-was a rude gesture, then pushed open the door... This is from the first flashback that Dalinar has. Y'all can probably see what I'm getting at here. What in damnation's own storms is this thing? It has been mentioned twice, so it is clearly important. Cusicesh has only been mentioned once, in comparison (though this isn't necessarily the best way of measuring importance). Brando Sando is clearly hinting at something though I have no idea what. If anyone knows what this is can they let me know? And if we don't know what it is, and it is a simple RAFO, I'm curious what the Shard community speculates that it is. I highly doubt that this is the Stormfather, we are told on numerous occasions that he is a massive face in the sky, so I don't know about that. We are not specifically told if it has a physical form, so it could highly likely be a Spren. In fact it is probably a Spren. Perhaps we might see Axies the Collector make a forage into a highstorm? This creature has only been described inside of Highstorms, so it seems to travel with them. Does it stop at Shinovar, does it start at the Origin? Does it travel on top of or through the oceans? How does it know what path to follow? Why does it appear so large; it is described as gargantuan and enormous. Does it simply disappear with the storms? Does it have a physical form? I am aware that there are speculations that Cusicesh is BAM, so some people might say similarly of this creature, but I personally doubt it. I see little defense for such an argument. BAM would surely not be tethered to a highstorm, and would not have chosen such a strange form I think. So, what do the people think? 1

Unfortunately, we don't know much more than that. Spoiler Quote GreenRover During the storm that Kaladin was in with Shallan in book 2; those two massive walkers we saw--are those Parshendi, Unmade, or spren? Brandon Sanderson Spren, with the caveat that might not mean they aren't Unmade, because that's not an either-or. Legion Release Party (Sept. 19, 2018) Quote Questioner ...Can the Storm Striders move when a highstorm is not passing? Brandon Sanderson No... Can is a strong term. They do not, how's that?
