He answered as best as he could - he wasn’t the best source for answers on an average life, as his family was poor and barely had more than they needed.

Rust is more interested in senses and feelings, because they need to know about the culture of the sky people, which Kal cannot tell them about.

Rust has emotions but finds the concept of family strange. Apparently they split when they run out of memories, but because memory can be shared they don’t have any special attachment to “their” swarms.

The moving object suddenly pivots, moving directly towards you. It’s still far away, but it’s a relative compact shape moving slightly up and down as it speeds in your direction. Rust expands in alarm. “What is that? It is alive, but strange.”

Adtae suddenly shoved his arm outwards, a dark blade forming in his hand. He twisted in upon himself, disappearing and reappearing behind the object, stabbing his blade at the object.

They turn around in alarm as Adtae cuts through one support for the roof, which seems to be made of a similar canvas. They speed up as it drapes over them.

The passenger gets out of their seat to try putting the back of the vehicle back together. They move strangely, and you realize their limbs have an extra joint. The black suit they’re wearing makes it hard to see anything else, but it’s unlikely they’re human. The driver continues berating you. “You just showed up? Three weeks to the closest other system, and you just show up?” Then, they process Adtae’s statement. “Did the Quantum bring you here or something? We’re researching the life forms here, of course. What else would a research station on a bioplanet be doing?” 
Rust walks over. “Sky people! Did I call you yet?” The driver sighs. “You just meant a Ferrian? I didn’t realize there were any sapient ones that decided to stay…”
