Once, there was an Idea. The Idea began to grow, as ideas tend to do, and it became part of a larger idea. The Idea was an idea for an Idea that could bring ideas to reality. Thus, the Idea brought itself into reality, the larger idea becoming a place around it. The Idea merely created ideas of what it would look like when it was observed, but the place was an ordinary place. It was barren - as it was not a very well thought out idea - but it was a place, and more ideas, through the Idea, would make it more interesting. The Idea sat in this barren place, and it touched more ideas - not by design, and not very closely, but it did touch them. One of these idea planes seemed to implode, and, because the idea was a bit connected to it, some of that idea plane tumbled out of where the Idea sat, saved from oblivion.

A swarm of many small, rust colored objects tumbled from the Idea, then gathered themselves into a dome and looked around. “I teleported, like the not-alive people. That is strange,” they warble through a slightly broken speaker.

Hello! I was bored, and thinking I would start a roleplay. When I couldn’t think of one, I decided I would crowdsource an idea, but proceeded to think of one. As a general idea crowdsourcing thread would not be a true roleplay, it would only sort of belong in the roleplay section. If I made it a roleplay, however, that would make it belong and create an interesting thread in and of itself. It should also franchise more threads, which I think is a thing I am allowed to do.
The Idea is capable of creating its own idea planes (aka threads), but it cannot influence other idea planes in most cases. It can pull a character or object from a thread, and characters in this thread can observe some non-Idea related threads, but they cannot affect these foreign idea planes. When creating an idea plane (which most characters can do simply by interacting with the Idea), the creator (whose player then starts the thread) can choose whether it can be affected, how, and to what extent, as well as the general premise of that idea plane. The Idea cannot be stolen or destroyed by conventional means; even if you are able to move it, you end up with two copies of the Idea. After all, if I take your idea and use it, you still have the idea, it’s just less useful. The Idea can also be manipulated to alter reality around it through interacting with it. Sometimes it will do things on its own, but it only acts sapient if you have the idea that it will. We’re not starting with a plot other than “random characters start RPs in pocket dimensions with a magic Idea thing”, but feel free to start one or pull in characters from other threads (or simply create one). A dead RP is easier to pull from than a live one, because it is no longer changing - it is a static idea.
Unrelatedly, you know that thing where you read a word too many times, so it starts to look wrong? It’s called semantic satiation, apparently.

So . . . it's like a thread/RP where characters from other RPs can observe RPs besides their own, and we can bounce ideas for new RPs around . . . ?

Yeah, pretty much. Things unrelated to other RPs can also happen and new characters can exist, though.

This is like the Twinkling Stars Tavern from DnD Beyond.

A blast of light comes from the Idea, and a tall, humanoid being appears. He, wing dragonlike wings and snout, and scaled arms, gracefully bats his wings and springs into the air before hitting the ground.

He swoops downwards and lands in a roll.

"Nice try, Zataran. Thinking to separate me from the rest of my armies, catch me alone?" He shouts at nothing.

Then, a deafening voice.

This was not my doing, Oviantris Flare.

Oviantris' eyes widen. "No matter. I can return at any moment. You may have forgotten that all Dragonkind can Realm-Shift."

I have not forgotten, for I have utlized that exact ability upon your forces many a time.

The two speak to each other as enemies, although with a sort of respect with one another. And, quite familiar with each other.

"You are not Dragonkind, are you? You are one of the Ancients, and they fall within their own Kingdom."

You forget your past, Oviantris. Have you lost all memory of Geleran's discovery?

"I remember." He growled. "I also remember you murdering him before he finished his thought."

Not really a murder, considering you brought him back to life. Somethign that should have not been possible.

"My magic runs thin. The link will fail, Zataran."

So it drains your power? You're slipping, Ovi. You forget that I am still your enemy.

"Hardly. It takes power when I intend to communicate with you. It takes power from yourself if you start the conversation. Have you not realized these things? Fool."

Well imma be my book idea for Death, so…

Shadows streak out of the Idea, and a figure coalesces from the shadows, wearing a cloak of shadow and a mask, covering his face. The mask was the color of darkness, a pure and undisturbed black, darker than the cloak, which was many shades of grey. There were no eyeholes, nor a mouth hole. The figure, Adtae, listened to his surroundings, confused. He had not visited this place before. Where am I?

He decided never to remove his mask here. Perhaps someone else was patrolling for souls, and he doubted they would be happy if Adtae claimed them.

Adtae is an acronym.
A Death To All Evil

No, this is not canon.

Can I "resurrect" dead people?

Yes: they still exist as ideas and thus can be created by the Idea.

A bruised man in his late thirties took form from the Idea. He was curled up, protecting his ribs.

The swarm considered the man. “You are curled up. Not-alive people do this to regain nodes, not to think, which is strange. Do you need food to repair your damage?” The swarm gathers into a ball, thinking. “Not-alive people have names; they gave me one but I lost it. What is your name?”

The swarm extends outward again, become less compact so they can see better. “I do not know. I am not as good at seeing far away as not-alive people like you. The ground is not edible, I know that. And there is a very alive thing, like a thought. You fell out of it.”

He slowly started to push himself up. The thugs were gone, but... so was Mare.

The swarm goes beneath him and pushes him upwards, drawing their segments into a tower. It’s not very much help, but lifting heavy things is difficult if you are only held together by magnets.

He grunted, but rose to his feet.

I genuinely cannot tell if you mean Mare from Mistborn or Marewill from the Hunger Games.

Atdae, unable to speak because of the tight mask, nodded. A strange contraption.

So as to see, Adtae focused on the shadows he could feel nearby, projecting his sight to them. Extending a hand, the shadows dripped toward it and coalesced into a small pad. He formed holes into the pad in the shape of words. It read this, “Where are we?” He turned the pad to the others there.

The swarm tries to look at the pad, but neither they, nor the translator node can read. “I do not understand this; maybe the very alive thing can help.” They move to the Idea, using a strange mix between sprouting tendrils to walk and moving nodes along their body to flow. They take one tendril and touch the manifestation of the Idea, as that is the best way to communicate for their kind. The nodes are pulled to it, as the swarm has the idea that the Idea is incredibly alive, aka magnetic. Along the tendril comes one thought, one idea. Create.

The swarm thinks at the Idea. Can you help me understand that man? The Idea’s magnetic field continues fluctuating randomly, but the swarm thinks they notice confusion. That impression causes the Idea to create that very thought. Do you have a device like this, but better? The swarm thinks an impression of the translator node, and a translator node falls from the Idea. The swarm catches it. Thank you, they think, the go back to @SpiritOfWrath. “I do not know where we are. The ground here is not edible, and this world is not alive. The other not-alive people said that was not bad, and that there are many not-alive places.”

Adtae teleports to @Spark of Hopes shadow.

The swarm takes a second to notice what to them is essentially a void disappearing, but then shuffles over to Adtae’s new location, trying once again to help up @Spark of Hope. “Why did you leave? I was trying to speak to you. I did leave too, so it is not bad, but I am still confused. Do you like my new communication node? The very alive thing gave it to me.”

This is the point where most RPs die, but I shall not let it fall! Or maybe I will, but I’ll at least try to get a plot first.

NEVER! THIS RP WILL BECOME THE RP TO GOVERN OVER ALL!!!!

*blind zealotism*

Adtae hesitates, pushes @Spark of Hope up with the shadows, then proffers his pad to him.

I cannot talk with this mask on... and trust me You want it on. Could you inform the swarm of this? Although... maybe it's new "communication node can.

Adtae created a second pad, straining his abilities, and showed a similar message to the swarm,
