Sophrosyne He/any Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 So I had this thought a while back. If Lift’s boon was “to be unchangeable by an outside force” as granted by Cultivation herself. Would that also bind the power, like T-Odium and the battle of champions. If so that would make her a perfect vessel no? A human who can grow and and learn and adapt but won’t be warped by her shard. 3
LewsTherinTelescope Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 If she had the power to stop the Shard from changing the Vessel, Taravangian!Odium would have been much easier to deal with. 1
Sophrosyne He/any Posted October 9, 2024 Author Posted October 9, 2024 Well the principles at play here would only work because Koravellium can make binding deals on behalf of the power that is Cultivation. That's what would stop Cultivation altering Lift. since Koravellium can't do the same for Odium, or the other shards, she couldn't protect anyone from any other shard. 3

That's an interesting thought, hmmm. I don't know if the power can be bound to something so firmly against its Intent, though—if you took Ruin and tried to swear an oath never to destroy I can't imagine it would take very well? I'm also not sure if the boon+curse mechanism is a binding oath in the first place since Cultivation didn't give Lift what she wanted anyway, and even if it is her gift seems to have been very specific rather than a general "cannot change anymore" trait. Plus, if it were that simple then any Vessel could make a promise saying "I will not change myself that way" to make themselves immune.
