Tinker didn't watch the games that morning.

He didn't want to. Maybe that made him weak. Maybe it made him a hypocrite, for wanting to help children like those, but being unwilling to watch their plight. That possibility gnawed at him, the same way his inability to participate in the war did. Even after snapping as a Mistborn, even has his parents and younger sister went off to fight the old Capitol's armies...he stayed home.

Most people didn't blame him. "He's been through enough," they said. "His place is here."

That didn't mean he didn't blame himself.

Instead of staying in the watching room of his parent's house, he went to talk with Marewill. Walking through the streets of Moongaze to the house where she lived, he marveled at how the once destitute settlement had become a bustling center of construction and life, all in the space of six years.

Their house would soon join the many already built. They'd already picked a spot, on a hill overlooking the city.

He fingered his engagement ring. Please don't get too mad at me, Mare, but we need to talk about this.

Somewhat hesitantly -- why am I hesitating? We're engaged. I should be able to talk to her. -- he knocked on the door.

A sound came from inside of footsteps coming towards the door. Crocus answered. "Hello and good morning, Flemr," she smiled.

Tinker smiled. He could always count on his future mother-in-law to be a kind face.

"Good to see you, Crocus. ...Is Marewill up yet?"

"Not yet, but I think she'll be up soon. Do you want some breakfast?"

"Um..." He considered telling her he'd already eaten at his parent's house, but decided against it.

"Sure."

She turned, leaving the door open for him. Lily was sitting at the table eating bacon, eggs, and toast. She brightened and waved at him excitedly. Despite being eleven now, she still acted like a little kid when she got excited.

"Goooood!"

"That's good." Tinker sat down and put a little food on his plate.

He looked around the room, and then turned to Crocus. "Where's Meron?"

"He didn't come home last night. He told me he was planning on staying at your parents' overnight."

"Hm." He shrugged. "I didn't see him there, but maybe he got up before me. Let me know if you need me to track him down at some point today."

Tinker and Marewill walking in on them would be very amusing.

"Will do."

Footsteps started coming down the stairs. Crocus smiled. "There she is."

pffft okay

Lee was out for a walk, preparing himself for the announce later and more of the games. The crisp morning air helped with his nerves.

Suddenly he saw Sweets on the same street.

"Oh, hey!"

Last night they were at Tinker's parents' house, which is where Meron was and where Sweets entered the house

Mark enters the house he was at the night before, the odd interaction at the door making him assume that he was allowed to enter, (Dang it I switched tenses there) and walks over to the TV.

"Maj... Show what's happening to Maj..." Mark looks around himself, waiting. The image, cutting between different tributes, didn't show Maj for a time.

"Something's wrong."

Eventually, the camera rested on Mark's friend for a time. It showed him, still pursued by the Greenspine, trying to convince it to leave him alone.

"Just like Arc did." Mark muttered. "Mathri really did like his story too much." I've heard of him through all of my childhood, Arc. I'm even kind of named after him. Why do we honor him? Why do we think of him as good, when all he was was a liar and a trickster?

Mark sighs and walks into the kitchen, seeing if anyone is awake.
