Evan jumped out of the kayak and helped pull it up onto the shore. He continued to scan for anything that could harm him, tribute or beast. 

Might as well experiment with this weird bird while we're waiting for something to happen.

A little blobby, black dog comes from the bird's mouth. It's form is indistinct and it doesn't move.
