Exactly!

She grabbed one end of the kayak once she could reach it, pulling it out of the branches and lowering one end towards Evan.

Careful!

Evan grabbed the end of the kayak and slowly lowered it until it was on the ground.

"So, now that we have a kayak, how are we going to get food" Evan thinks, glancing again towards the bird.

"Yeah it's so weird. Anyways, do you have any foods or other supplies, because I don't really have anything. All I have is this weird bird", he says while pointing at the bird that he had encountered and someone bonded too. "Oh, maybe we could cook him up for a meal?"

I also like the bird. I have no biases. None at all. Definitely no reason why I like this bird so much. Nope. Couldn't be me. Did I mention how much I like this bird in an unbiased way?

he holds up a finger. "I got this"

Squall rolls his eyes at this.

"No, you don't understand," Sharlin said, her voice shaky, "I. Need. It. Back."

She let out a laugh, but it didn't sound amused at all, like pieces of porcelain shattering.

He laughs a little. "You want a good reason? how about I'm able to give entertainment to the entire place. its a gambling, and to be completely honest, its terrible odds. but wouldn't you like to see some chaos and such? I mean, gods willing, I come out of this alive and with my friends, but we can at least gamble for our lives." he hopes his ridiculous rambling got through.

“Very well then.”

A parachute began falling from the sky.

"Squall!" She said, raising her voice, not noticing the parachute.

Sharlin, it's fine, just calm down--

She tried, she really tried. But there were flashes of things all around her.

There She was, standing in the boat behind Winter, her face faded out. She was shaking her head, arms folded behind her back. An eye opened in the faded head, bright yellow and staring.

The eyes were everywhere, she could feel them. Like bright lights in a carnival they lined her sky, staring.

Then there was the sound of running, and the color red in all the places it shouldn't be. The eyes flashed away, but Sharlin knew they were still there, just closed.

The noise was worse, echo's and screeches and voices.

"B-be quiet . . . be quiet . . ." Sharlin whispered, her earlier anger melted away in the face of terror.

And she had been doing so good so far too . . .

--Take deep breaths, and try to focus on real things, Sharp was saying, trying to help but only adding to the cacophony. His voice was warped and hideous, filtered through the other noises.

"Squall, squall, squall, please."

She ran her hands over her face, tears slipping out.

There's food in my packs. A good bit of it.

She climbed down.

"Ok, that solves the problem of food, what about water and shelter?" Evan thinks, sighing as he glances at the bird.

I know there were some streams back there that might have been clean but I don't know how we'll build a shelter if all the plants want to kill us...

She hopped back onto the sand.

Last night, I just made a dugout in the sand and covered it with the kayak. I'm sure we could do it again- with leaves or a log or something.

The bird understands the need of thirst. The bird is thirsty. The bird squawks.

Ok, you have any idea how to make weapons, in case we need to defend ourselves? Evan walks towards the tree line to see if there are any solid sticks that he could potentially use for a quarterstaff.

I thought it had stopped being that bad, he sounded concerned.

The bird vomits up a solid mass of goo in the vague shape of a spear.

I have a bunch of knives. And a goat skull- we could break off the horns.

That could work, maybe we could use some vines to tie the horns onto a stick to make a spear.

The branches on the tree look great for a shaft. They could probably be removed without much effort.

It feels solid but also wet and cold to the touch. It jiggles a bit but there's a sense of solidity despite it's goopy nature.
