"Don't worry! I got it!" he gets into the boat without too much incident.

As soon as he gets into the boat it is sucked underwater, right in front of Sharlin's eyes.

"GOSH DANGIT SQUALL!!" Sharlin yelled, straining to see in the water.

"Sharp can you see him?"

No, the ocean is solid rock for me.

Sharlin cursed loudly some more, before calming down.

"Winter, you have a psychic bird right?" @Lord Spirit

"It's a shieding aviar, it's not going to help find people. Plus, birds and water do not mix."

Winter is quietly hopes that Squall will end up dead, as it will eliminate another tribute and move him a step closer to winning.

"There's not anything we can do to help him right now. Fawn will hopefully prevent other monsters from sensing us, but our boat is gone and this tree is not very mobile. Maybe we could make a raft out of the branches."

Me (and Winter): we need more death

also me (but not Winter): but not my teammates!

I'll wait for Raven to respond before winter tries to ditch him.

Squall comes up spluttering. "BOATS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO DO THAT DAMMIT" His aviar Blackjack sits on his head.

The Greenspine began walking towards him menacingly, grinning---if it could be described as a grin.

If Maj had been paying attention to the Greenspine-Berin fight some time back, he would know that the Greenspine could drain Investiture (including from Aviar), and use Verdant spores to defend itself, although it could only use those above water. It was injured in one eye from where Berin had stabbed it, and a few scales on its back were missing, although there was a slim chance of reaching that weakpoint unless he was as deranged as Berin had been.

And Berin had been pretty deranged.

Maj looks at the eyes, particularly the injured one. A way... A chance...

He lifts the machete high in his hand. "You think you're so powerful? Then how did a human manage to get those hits on you?" Maj shouts at the Greenspine.

If I'm gonna die I can at least annoy the Greenspine before I do.

Also... GMs, how long until the wave hits this island?

Omg Ryn is one of my favourite HG characters. (Except for Mark, but I'm a little biased.)

@BlueWildRye

Berin chuckles. “A half dead child, at that.”

"He was barely human, mentally," the Greenspine growled, stepping closer. "He lost his life because of his sheer madness." It stopped, then jumped at Maj with a roar.

I just wanna say that I'm okay with Maj surviving this fight, so long as he loses AT LEAST one limb, maximum four.

Berin feigns offense, then grinned slyly. “Was that hypocrisy?”

You got up high, so I’ll say you’re safe from it

I'm also fine with Maj dying, so I'll see if I can think up a hairbrained scheme that may let me get away. If my reasoning is bad though, he should die.

Well, that may have been my way out. Shoot.

As the Greenspine leaps for him, Maj feints to the left for a moment before diving recklessly away to his left, trying to get into a defensive position behind a tree.

He scrapes himself in several places in his leap, however.

You need to get it in the water, so it can’t use its vines on you. Your best bet here is (in water) latching on to its vines and crawling on its back looking for weak points. (I did take a scale off, so that is a weak point, yes?)

He splutters a bit more, gets over himself, then looks at the boat, flips it off, then swims back to the boat to get onto it.

That's the worst strategy, really. Sure, it might hurt the Greenspine, but in the water you are guaranteed dead. More like a suicide attack IMO

My hope was that the wave would be weakened but still hit the Greenspine from behind, which might have given me a chance. Because I'm not seeing much of a chance right not.

Although, there are a few of the aforementioned hairbrained schemes that would all most likely result in Maj's death. Hmm...

My brain is so tired from math right now.
