I don't like this . . . putting too much trust in plants, Sharp said in her ear, his voice perfectly clear despite the roar of the water. Hopefully the roots don't give out . . . In fact, why don't I go check on them. Sharlin wanted to say that checking on the roots meant nothing because she couldn't do anything to change them from here, but didn't dare open her mouth. If it gave him peace of mind, she supposed.
