At the sound of the gong Evan runs down the beach for a couple of minutes and then decides to make his way about five feet into the jungle. He crouches down and faces towards the ocean watching to make sure no other tributes had followed him for an early kill. His pitch black aviary with a streak of blue down his belly, Kaz, chirps on his shoulder. Hopefully nothing notices me cuz' of Kaz's mental shielding Evan thinks. After waiting for some time he turns around and decides to make his way deeper into the jungle.

It's nighttime now, so if you want to describe how he found safety that'd be great

Soon after traversing into the jungle Evan noticed that it had begun to get dark. Guess I waited a little to long by the beach, I'll have to get food and other supplies tomorrow Evan thinks to himself. He finds a sturdy and tall looking tree and begins to climb it in hopes of spending the night in the upper branches of it.

Casper is utterly shocked by this betrayal and his survival instincts kick in, trying to push the kayak off him. The aviar on Casper's shoulder, startled, gives a burst of strength, allowing casper to push the canoe upwards and knock Berin away from him. Casper slowly gets up, holding his machete threateningly.

Berin suddenly shoved the kayak into the man, grabbing the oar and raising it high over his face, bringing it downwards.
They look to the ground, saddened.

They got a kayak?

Murr's chest tightened as he saw the fighting begin, restricting his breathing. A yell of pain. "We could have been friends." Blood soaking the earth. He got a grip on himself, turning away from the death. This one, at least, I have no part in.

Casper did. Berin "allied" with him

Yeah, Casper grabbed one at the start and Berin took advantage of that.

Berin stumbled back, then gave a sickly grin. He steps out of the range of the machete and starts to use the oar similarly to a quarterstaff. He positions himself so the one with the machete was between him and the newcomer.
He tries to hit his friend with the makeshift quarterstaff.

Casper is whacked in the side as he tries to avoid the hit. He immediately begins running to the other person on the beach trying to get away while waving the machete wildly "Help! Please!"

Who was there other than us? I can't remember.

Berin grins. Fool.
He runs after the man calling for help, jabbing the oar slightly out to the man’s side, then turned it so the flat of the oar was in his path. He jerked it towards himself violently.

Describe that again please? I don't understand fully what he's doing.

Slid flat part in front of Casper, pulled in towards himself

Ok so u know how an oar is a pole, that flattens and widens at the end? I stuck out the oar to your side, so that the wider part was in front of you. (But at this point I had it turned so it didn’t hit you). Then I turned so that the wider part was in front of you.
There is a crew term for this (except on water, not a person) called feathering, if you know it.

So yea. I’m using it as a makeshift hook. *stares at glass and spark*

Ah, ok. Definitely didn't look online at what feathering was...

Casper falls onto his back. In his panic he gets an idea, a desperate, risky idea but it's all he has. He rolls himself into the water.

Y'know like when you roll on a grassy hill, like that.

Berin laughs.  He slams the oar on the flat of the man’s back, pinning him down in the water.

Oh, no. Drowning is ranked one of the worst possible deaths ever.

Casper can't breathe. In a last ditch effort he hopes for a burst of strength and pushes up with all his might against his restraint.

I dunno how strong or big Berin is. Casper is pretty large though. I'm also gonna leave it up to the GMs if the bird gives him strength.

A vine with strange yellow flower sneaks up the vine, using cognitive powers to project a deep depression into Evan.

In spite of himself, Murr continued to see the fight play out. Maybe...

He made an ear-splitting whistle, catching El's attention, before pointing across the water at Berin. She obediently flew toward him, and in some way seemed to understand that this time he wanted more than a distraction. Moving very fast, she swept by his face and scored a cut with her talons, leaving his range just as quickly.
