Unhurried he/him Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Question for everyone - which character(s) are you most hoping to see character growth in WaT? Mine's probably Jasnah; she's been a great character for helping others grow or explore their own actions (e.g. Shallan and Dalinar), so it would be great to see some of her own growth as well. Perhapst this will be more for the latter 5 books when we get her flashbacks, but seeing some of her own character shine through more in RoW, and now in WaT preview chapter 14, gives me hope we might see a bit more in WaT. (Posting in Cosmere Spoilers thread in case people want to see growth for worldhoppers!) 2

Taliax none (name only) Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 I'm excited to see everyone, but I think I'm especially excited to see Szeth's backstory and development (it's his book and I feel like we've been waiting forever to find out what all his deals are!), as well as Shallan. Seeing her so far in the preview chapters with her powers and plate has been awesome, and I'm REALLY looking forward to her finding out her secrets about her past. 3

Hmm I agree we're unlikely to get too many character developments, but particularly with the likelihood of visits to the Spiritual Realm (IIRC the last time this happened was when Kaladin reached 4th ideal) I'm expecting at least a couple? No I agree, particularly Szeth is ripe for some development (and retroactive development, via his backstory) and Shallan could have another secret exposed. But I would be surprised(/upset at the writing) if Kaladin has 2 life-transforming revelations about the meaning of everything in the span of 10 days, it would be a bit much. 2

Agree, I think we will get small backfill updates, like we did in released chapters for characters like Shob, Gaz, Red, and Kaladin's father Lirin. I expect bigger changes for Szeth, and maybe Adolin from what we have gotten in the chapters so far. But I agree the timeline is not good for much growth, unless there is a lot more book after the champion battle. 1
