Impact he/him Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 (edited) Does anyone know how to create glyphs from words or sentences? I was trying to figure out how to write “Fleet Kept Running” as a glyph Edited September 20, 2024 by Impact

I was trying to figure out how to write “Fleet Kept Running” as a glyph Everything we have confirmed about Glyphs are on the Coppermind Page. You may also want to check out this thread where the Fandom worked to figure out the various Stormlight Archive Scripts, I think Glyph discussion starts around page 4 and is interspersed throughout. Note: Glyphs are memorized, not "read" as (especially old) glyphs have had their graphemes muddled as the glyph changed over the ages. Newer glyphs are easier to find the graphemes (example Zeras). WoI: Spoiler Argent: A 17th Shard user made an interesting observation re: Surge glyphs - https://goo.gl/5eVHPr Can you comment? :3 Isaac: No comment yet on this specifically, tho I'll respond to something in that thread regarding names and "screw yous" within glyphs. Isaac: Readers are trying to pronounce glyphs by reading them. Glyphs aren't read. They're memorized. Sounds might be found in glyphs. Isaac: Glyphs have evolved from the early days. Just like the Chinese character for "tree" doesn't look like a tree anymore. Isaac: Alethi glyphs are recognized by overall shape, not by the shapes/sounds that might be found within. Isaac: For example, the Bridge 4 glyph is still recognizable even if the component shapes are changed. So, without having the actual glyphs for any of those words, you may be able to craft something from the component graphemes. However, also consider that as far as we have seen, there is no grammar or conjugation for Glyphs - so far they on seem to be used for Nouns and Labelling, not sentences. Not that that should dissuade you from, for example, a Glyphpair (maybe Fleet Runs - continuous action implied). Hope that helps 1
