"Look, I know it's been a rough day, but I'll make it nice and quick okay?"

He inched over to a nearby curtain, still holding December, and ripped some of the trim off. He then started to tie December's wrists behind her back with it.

"I appreciate that buddy, I really do," February said. He handed Arke off to a nearby guard, he kept careful hold of him.

"Now time for the others I suppose," He said, turning to the rest of the room.

he promptly flips the guard over him, but doesnt do much else.

The guard lands on the floor with a crack, and whimpers a bit.

"What's the point if you're not even gonna run away," He mumbles from where he lays.

A note flutters down that he drops after writing for a second. "To make a point. that guy beat me in single combat, you didnt. therefore i can flip you over myself without breaking code. also, anger." he looks completely calm.

"Maybe you will on the other side, I don't know," He said. Jan finished tying up December and sat her gingerly in a nearby chair.

"They'll be there eventually, at the very least."

She gave up trying to be quiet. Sobs tore out of her.

She held tightly the only thing valuable to her that she'd brought- a necklace. The charm was a simple white stone - quartz? granite? - and it was attached to a twine string tied around her neck.

She remembered the dream she'd had two weeks prior. A glimpse of her family. Her parents still had that sadness in their eyes of their loss. Two small children were with them, a boy and a girl. Her real siblings... that she'd never met.

And it seemed she'd never get a chance to.

"It's not very nice my guy."

"My word," Jan said, still holding his knife.

"You did just tell her you're going to murder her," December said flatly.

"Surely she can just go to an honorable death and be done with it."

"Not everyone is as macabre as you Jan."

he shrugs. "Hopped up on adrenaline from that fight, sorry."

"Sorry? You could've broken my spine!"

He rubbed his back as Arke helped him up, "'Not that hard' my best donkey."

"Right," He said, crossing the room to her and holding his knife, "But you won't, oh well,"

"And what is that?"

"And what is that?"

"My gift of prophecy- I will use it to insure that the throne is yours. I only ask that you spare August, July, and my lives- Even if you imprison them but spare them, my gift will be yours."

"Hmmmm I don't know, leaving all 3 of you alive is quite risky."

She curled up tighter. "Please, my Lord..."

"I'll leave July alive but not August."

He thought about it a long moment. "Fine, I'll let you say goodbye."

She let out a breath and crawled over, beginning to grovel. "Thank you, thank you..."

"Get up you're making all of us uncomfortable," He said, turning away.

"I suppose now we just need to wait for things to die down at the palace before going back," He said, moving across the room to sit next to December.

"February will likely dispatch the accomplices quickly, and March can take care of the twins," December said quietly, "We won't have to wait long."

She pulled back but stayed on her knees.

She felt humiliated. She'd rendered herself a tool, a slave. But she'd saved her life, and July's, and tried to save August. She'd likely pledged herself to a tyrant, yes. But at least she'd live.

February crossed room, glancing around. It was mostly under control. Mostly.

He'd take care of the man with the explosives last, for now he he approached Niamh.
