Alrighty then, let's move things right along!

Testimonies and explanations of what exactly had happened didn't take long. Soon everyone was filled in with most of what had happened, and each persons involvement.

When deciding the sentences of the party members the months didn't argue or even suggest ideas. It seemed because this wasn't a family matter, they didn't get a say. It was the emperors decision alone.

After several minutes of glancing over his notes and scribbling some more, he pulled June over, likely to clarify some details. They whispered for a few minutes, the conversation inaudible to the party.

Just as they finished, June slit his throat with a knife no one had realized he'd been holding.

When the emperor's head slammed into the desk, July stood, completely aghast. "June?!"

"The contract never said . . . that we had to challenge the Emperor before killing him . . . just the other months!" June said, turning. There has a smile on his face but it wasn't a happy one.

Chaos erupted through the room. The few guards there with them seemed at a loss. It was illegal to kill, and was obviously treason to kill the emperor, but the months were exempt from most laws if they had a good reason for action. If June declared he was motivated to do so because he wanted the throne, then it might be excusable and the guards would be punished for attempting to arrest him.

March stood immediately drawing his sword, staring the younger man.

May watches in what appears to be horror. But behind those eyes, for someone who was watching closely, they could see a little bit of joy, maybe even pride, at what June had done. She puts on a show of screaming "Daddy! No!" and runs out of the courtroom in tears.

She made it a point not to show emotion in front of most of her “family.”

But this shock couldn’t be held in.

Her eyes widened and her mouth slightly opened. She’d known he disliked being here, too, but to go that far…

She grabbed her knives but kept them hidden.

In the chaos no one notices her leaving, and she isn't stopped at the door.

June stared at the puddle of blood on the table for a split second, before turning and running to July.

July was clearly still in shock of what had happened, so he lets June grab his wrist and start pulling him towards the door.

yeah for kicks and giggles they still have their weapons lol

I love chaos

March charges after June and July, sword in hand.

December stayed in her seat but clearly looked distressed and unsure what to do. She stood slowly and moved to check on the emperor's body.

January and his son were heading for the doors, clearly wanting to get away instead of go after June.

The man who'd be sitting next to December staring off into space continued to not move, completely unaffected.

Watching June and July run to the exit, August moved to go after them but October put his hands on his shoulders and slammed him back down into his chair. He stayed that way, holding him down and August didn't struggle--he just stared at the table in front of him, pale.

Everything was falling apart.

Order had died with the emperor.

Wide-eyed, she watched the twins leave and be chased by March. Seeing movement, she turned and saw August get slammed down into his chair.

There was just too much.

Her elbows rested on the table and her fingers raked through her hair. Her hands covered her face.

"Your not going with them?"

The puddle of blood continued to grow, spilling out onto the floor and soaking into the papers and books on the table.

December grabbed the arm of the un-responding man next to her.

"Come on February, we need to go now . . ." She said gently.

She looked back at April, seeing her start to hyperventalate.

"This is shocking for all of us, why don't you come with me and we can discuss things after you calm down?"

Her head shifted down. Even though her fingertips stayed where they were on her head, her wrists slid up her face until her hands were like fists grasping her hair. Her face was red and warm, and soon, wet. She took a breath in, but it shook.

"She's right April," August said from his seat. He tried to lean forward to see her better, but October yanked him back, "It'll be better for you if you go with her."

oh whoops

December gently took her hand and turned to get February as well, but he'd changed.

He was standing ridged, fully awake and staring at his hand which had gotten covered blood.

"Oh . . ." She said quietly, "This is really not a good time to wake up, sweetheart."

A few bright red drops fall from his hand onto the tiles of the floor. He turned to look at the emperor's body, slumped against the desk.

One of his eyes was closed because of scarring on his face, but the other was wide and full of shock.

February turned to December, his face dark. "Who did this?"

"Hmmmm," February mumbled, "I suppose someone ought to do something if Father's dead . . ."

mkay mkay

December seemed a little fazed at seeing April so emotional, but she didn't press it.

She lead her through the door out of the throne room, which opened into a tight stairwell. At the bottom they were met with several of December's guards, who began escorting them out of the building.

--------------

February took a quick glance around, the throne room had quickly fallen into chaos. He didn't need to worry about June and July, with March after them and the guards outside they weren't going anywhere.

No, he would fix this one step at a time. Nice and simple, as it always was.

He stepped around the table, ignoring October and August, and approached a guard who was standing nearby. He'd frozen in shock, uncertainty on his face. February drew the sword he had still sheathed at his hip without looking at him, and kept walking.

He glanced up at the ceiling, where Arke was. He'd take care of the one first.

Febraury threw the sword with surprising strength, and it flew up to the ceiling straight at Arke. @Ookla de los cuervos

------------

Not all of the guards where frozen unfortunately. It might be iffy to attack a month but no one would mind if someone took care of the other prisoners.

A guard saw Niamh drew her knives, and rushed up to her to restrain her, reaching for her wrists. @Ookla the Inconclusive

Another guard came after Rye, sword swinging. @Ookla Rye

-----------

June was still gripping July's hand. They'd come to a stop at the end of the hall.

March approached from the front, no longer in a rush. He clearly had them corned.

The halls massive doors had opened and around a dozen soldiers were piling in to surround them.

"What were you thinking?!" July yelled at June, struggling to pull away from his grip, "I don't have any weapons on me."

"I wasn't really thinking," June said, his voice unnaturally calm, "It just felt right, so I did it."

"June there's no way this will end well!"

June just shrugged, he seemed distant.

March smirked, "You kids ready to surrender yet or are you still having fun?"

The emperor was dead, and she was leaving the palace. If it had just been that, she'd have been ecstatic.

But the truth of the matter was that there was more to it. She was still an heir, and she was still a member of the imperial family.

She didn't look at any of the guards around them, and she only looked at December's back.
