I do not think Brandon has definitively answered why he chose that name, though my personal theory is that: Spoiler Since the SoScad culture seems to be heavily influenced by Northern Europe (Norse - Denmark/Sweden/Norwegian/Finnish) the "ett" borrowed from that language family means it would roughly translate to "the one metal" or just "the metal" / "one metal."
