Kobold King he/him Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I don't think most of you guys keep up with the Sanderson Elimination games here, aside from Joe and I. Alvron, one of our readers has set up the latest game in the world of Steelheart here. I'm just letting you know so you can join if you want. They're a lot of fun! I'm glad to have the backstory and personality completely fleshed out for Milton, my character. It'll make it really easy to RP. (Especially if he gets the role of Illusionist. ) Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll pass. I've looked at the Sanderson Elimination games, and they seem a lot more... well, like actual games. I like "What Happened in Oregon" since it's essentially a collaborative fanfiction, while SE looks more like an in-depth puzzle game. Maybe I've got the wrong idea of them, but that's the overall impression I get. Talking about game and time, we brought it up but is there currently an actual interest to move action to Astoria or is that something for possibly later? I'd definitely be interested, but I don't have any ideas for Astorian characters at the moment. When we do move action there, maybe Lucentia could return to find her city has been seized by a rival Epic? That could make an interesting start for a thread.
Edgedancer he/him Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I don't know if we were planning on doing that now, or waiting until after the CorpseMaker war. Was Lucentia planning on going back to Astoria after that? If so, it might make more sense to start an Astoria thread when their Queen returns; but if we wanted to start one now, perhaps you could tell us what kind of court intrigue would be going on in her absence? (Also, if/when we start an Astoria thread, would The Financier, a resurrection Epic whose deaths cause him to see numbers as increasingly violent living entities, be allowed?) Either is fine with me to be honest and yes she did intend to return to Astoria after the CorpseMaker war, possibly after dealing with Thoughtown as well, depending on the exact turn of events. Concerning intrigues, the town is fairly stable, so while the Epics in town might squabble with each other, without outside influence nothing would happen to really disturbe order. There´s also a fairly good chance that it would take a while for people outside the inner circle to even notice that she´s gone, given that she didn´t announce her departure and doesn´t regulary appear in public. (Sure, as far as I´m concerned the only clear restriction for Epics residing in Astoria would be that they can convince Lucentia that they aren´t a threat to her rule. Admittedly, Teleporters probably wouldn´t want to live there.) I'd definitely be interested, but I don't have any ideas for Astorian characters at the moment. (Actually didn´t you propose an interest in Temptation before? Otherwise we can play pitches.) A Epic that could subdue Deathgale, Bloody Mary and the Metal? That´s storming scary. As I see it, the destruction of the city is a whole lot more likely than it being taken over. 1

Maybe Jingleberry could make her way to the city? She wouldn't be a particularly powerful addition to the Astorian political scene, but she could definitely wreak some small degree of havoc. If Portland is completely destroyed, then Lightwards may try to find a new town or city to regroup and prepare a new attempt at empire-forging in. How would Lucentia feel about him accompanying her to Astoria after the CM war?

If Jingleberry makes it back to Astoria around the same time Lucentia brings Nighthound back with her, things will approach Poe-like horror rather quickly.

Although you comment about the power scale makes me realice that we would need some kind of Epic comming from the outside to mess things up. Depends on the relationship they have at the moment. Should it stay as it is now, maybe but only with heavy regulations to make sure he doesn´t cause trouble, he definetly wouldn´t be able to build much of a power base. If Jingleberry makes it back to Astoria around the same time Lucentia brings Nighthound back with her, things will approach Poe-like horror rather quickly. Actually, Nighthound would probably have his hands full dealing with Mary and finding a way to get out of the city again, so unless she approaches him she should be safe from Nighthound.

I was thinking more along the lines of what would happen when Jingleberry left mistletoe up, and Nighthound passed by at the same time as anyone female….. 1

Probably wouldn´t make much of a diference for Nighthound. What can Mistwraith do for the story? In the Dalles? I would say either follow Busdriver into Quicksilver´s group or go and join up with the city guard, although she might be to dangerous to keep around for them.

Considering Nighthound is already the kind of guy who might randomly kiss someone if he thought he could get away with it... And message for Voidus: assuming you haven't given her away to anyone else, or have any plans for her yourself, I'd like to officially adopt Jingleberry. I think I have some ideas for her character, as well as a minor expansion of her powers.

Kobold King he/him Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 And suddenly she can create vines to throw people around with. Well, yes, but there's more to it. I was reading about mistletoe in biology, and I realized two things: mistletoe is poisonous, and it is parasitic to other plants. That led to me envisioning Jingleberry as a sort of human mistletoe, capable of poisoning people at a touch and healing herself by absorbing the life force from plants in her immediate vicinity. That would make her more dangerous at close range, as well as making her harder to kill. 2
mail-mi he/him Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I will say only this: The reader/Koschei flashback sequences are gonna be incredimazingly awesome Also, I think an Astoria thread could be really cool when Portland is destroyed. 2

Remington, why didn´t you shoot the Slontze? 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 25, 2014 Author Posted October 25, 2014 Remington, why didn´t you shoot the Slontze? Because back then, he had not yet adopted his very prudent policy of "shoot first, ask questions, and shoot again." However, if there were a time-traveling Epic capable of traveling years into the past, Future!Remington would advise Past!Remington to shoot the slontze. And they would both shoot. 2

I'd say 500% more gun violence, but the Doctor doesn't use guns, so 100% is an accurate statistic. I do believe they will indeed be quite awesome. 1

How about Busdriver leads Mistwraith to Quicksilver/Aura/Event Horizon, because the latter two are currently waiting for a meeting with Quicksilver. Sound good to everyone?

Edgedancer he/him Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 After getting the dogs out. Jeez, how evil do you think I am? But the cats can die, is that it? That´s a retorical question, right? 2
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 25, 2014 Author Posted October 25, 2014 But the cats can die, is that it? That´s a retorical question, right? He's not fond of cats, but he'd let them go, too. Those poor animals did nothing to deserve the Jagers and must be freed immediately. It was meant to be, but if you'd care to rate me on a scale of 1 (you're about as evil as a fluffy bunny and just as harmless) and 10 (um, I just said your name, and Lightwards immediately curled up in the fetal position while Nighthound broke into a grin) you're welcome to do so. 3
