The sad part of Backtrack staying in The Dalles; it would likely deal some harm to the Backtrack/MV ship, since Steve was very awkward around women to the point of not being able to properly talk to them. He'd also start feeling embarrassed about the creeptastic way he was treating her, and would start avoiding her. Ironically the one time he'd make a decent boyfriend is when he's most likely to avoid MV altogether.

Dark!Paladin would probably make him physically sick, like all the worst Epics. He'd feel more comfortable with Nice!Paladin's mind.

As for the others... well, I'll have to re-read their segments to get a better idea of what their average thoughts are like, but he could probably handle them. He's only made physically sick by the most far-gone of Epics.

Can we canonize the "I am a nice Epic" creed?

Imagining a Glamour working under Koschei, I can't help but think he'd follow him around playing "I'm Too Sexy" at all times. I'm not sure how Koschei would react to this.

Maybe...maybe MV would find that sweet? The ship must be saved!

Consider it canon.

Publicly, Koschei would ask him to stop and play something more thematically appropriate. Privately, he would adopt it as his personal theme.

Diamond Queen + being attractive + ruling Astoria with a diamond fist + extreme self-confidence = proof of divinity in Koschei's eyes. He would definitely bring flowers.

I was thinking how backtrack could be useful, and decided he could actually be quite valuable as a crime-scene investigator. He just shows up to the scene of the crime and he can tell you exactly how it went down. He's like the ultimate witness in court.

Well, I just read what was probably the most brutal and depressing end of a stories phase I read in a long while, so I could use some of that mockery to chear me up.

You remember the series I resently talked about, Tokyo Ghoul? I decided to track down the source material and it didn´t exactly became prettier, although the end left some things ambigious for the sequel.

The main character´s sanity continued to be a bit... slippery but he stayed very sympathetic overall. Here´s what we get for him at the end.

-While wounded and having one of his insane moments he meets his best friend, with whom he avoided contact since he was turned into a Ghoul. His best friend tells him that it´s alright and that he wants to help him. Then the scene cuts away and when the focus returns to him, Kaneki, in a almost trance like state, notices that when he came back to his senses his friend was gone and his mouth tated like blood.

-Said main character then gets brutally beaten, by someone that stated he wanted to use his corpse as raw material for a weapon. By the end said character has a new weapon and Kaneki´s file is labled as [ERASED]. He even got one of those dead resolution scenes, completly deconstructing his entire struggles. I would post the last shot we got of him but I doubt you want to see someone with both his eyes stabbed out.

 

-Two more characters, one of them the human Deuteragonist, either got killed or will be used for the same experiment that turned Kaneki into a Ghoul.

 

-Yet another character, the old wise mentor type that wants to make up for the wrongs he has commited in the past, gets captured and used as a forced organ donor for said experiments, by his own daughter.

 

-Two overall likeable characters were revealed to be part of an organisation that manipulated all of this for their amusement.

 

Several more characters got maimed in the final fight, made wore by the fact that from the three factions involved the only one without loss were the clear villains, and the grief over lost loved ones.

 

I dunno... maybe creating some kind of flikering soul-flame construct(s), if you know what I mean.

But at the very least I have to applaud the autor for having the galls to do that, apart from that "they were part of this evil organisation" revel, that one is stupid.

 

You could always go a less insane Crow route.

I really love the name Soulflicker, and I think a vampire-type Epic could be really cool. Maybe he can sap various attributes from those around him, able to use them for brief periods of time? Strength, health, mental speed... even Epic powers, if you're looking for a particularly powerful Epic.

For one of them it at least kind of makes sense, still a stretch no one would have made on their own, but for the other it was just straight out of left field.

Definitely eye contact. Maybe blood contact strengthens the connection, allowing him to kill them quickly if he chooses? And maybe the blood doesn't have to be fresh so he keeps blood samples of everyone under his thumb on hand just in case?
