SPECTRE120 Posted February 13, 2024 Posted February 13, 2024 MAJOR TOTK SPOILERS FOR EVERYTHING ok so hear me out: TotK copied WoT. First of all, there are mentions to the "age of legends" throughout the game Zelda is literally the Dragon Reborn because she was REBORN as a DRAGON. The symbol at the spot where you get recall looks suspiciously like the Flame of Tar Valon (Dragon's fang? I can't remember what side it's on) The gloom that appears on the surface has bubbled up from the depths like the dark one's bubbles in the pattern. The master sword is Callandor. And finally, one of the main symbols for the game is a double ouroboros, with 2 dragons eating each others tails, just like the symbol for the wheel of time with a regular ouroboros. has anyone found any other similarities?
Throw TheLiving Silverware he/him/il/lui Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 (edited) First, I haven't interacted with you yet, so welcome to the Shard! I haven't finished TOTK but you know all of that is just surface-level similarities, and/or incredibly common tropes that existed waaaaay before WoT? Like "Age of Legends" well there aren't an infinity of ways to call a very ancient golden age of which there are only legends left Similarly OP legendary swords are not something WoT invented (cough cough Excalibur), and the Flame of Tar Valon and the Dragon's Fang are just a yin and a yang. Same for ouroboros, it's an incredibly common imagery for anything cyclic. And for the Dragon Reborn - there are no actual dragons in WoT, it was just a surname. This is entirely a coincidence. (I'm not sure if you were sarcastic. If it was, well sorry.) Edited February 14, 2024 by Just a Silvereye
SPECTRE120 Posted March 11, 2024 Author Posted March 11, 2024 Yeah I know these things are a stretch, and I was half-sarcastic, but it's still fun to think about.
