"I don't trust you. There's a difference. Just because I'm not amiable doesn't mean I have something against you personally."

“There’s a difference between not trusting someone and completely sitting down their attempts to talk to you.”

"They're related."

“Maybe, but if you never talk to someone then you can’t learn to trust them. She just wanted-wants-to try to help you.”

"I'm not trying to learn to trust people. It's a bad idea."

“It’s not. You’ll die alone. We’re demigods, we need each other.” He looked at Jenny and smiled.

Jenny smiled back and waved cheerfully. Their words weren’t audible to her and she wasn’t able to read their body language, so she was oblivious to the tense nature of their conversation. She just figured that it was going well, since Ed was smiling. Terrance wasn’t, but he never smiled anyways.

"I'm not saying it's bad in general. But it's bad for me, I can assure you."

"My parentage has a tendency to make people afraid and suspicious of me, and they end up betraying me. I've explained this."

“Maybe you just weren’t around the right people.”

“We might not be, but you haven’t given us a chance.”

"Giving people a chance is what has almost gotten me killed multiple times."

“Then why are you still here? We want you here, but you don’t seem to want to be here.”

"I don't know, exactly. I already answered these questions back when I first showed up and you were interrogating me."

“I just don’t understand why you’ll be here but not interact with anyone.”

Elsie beamed at the lady with the dog one more time, before she walked over to Jenny. "What's your favorite color?"

@Lunamor

“Black. What’s yours?”

Jenny was thrilled to be talking to Elsie. It seemed like she had her priorities straight- knowing someone’s favorite color was essential to properly getting to know them. Based on her outfit, however, it was pretty obvious what Jenny’s was.

Elsie grinned. Literally no one else has answered that question. "I like orange!"

“Yeah, if you count ignoring them.”

"I am talking to you. I have talked to other people. I'm not ignoring people, but there's not much point in making an active effort to interact."

“Cool!”

Jenny’s response would’ve been the same for any color. They were all pretty cool. She guessed orange was technically a warmer color, though. She was briefly distracted by this thought before remembering that she was supposed to be in a conversation.

”What’s your favorite animal? I like cats.”

Elsie is very similar to how Jenny would’ve been at her age if she hadn’t been half feral at the time.
