He glanced over at Jenny to see how she was handling it. Jenny had her eyes tightly squeezed shut. She was tightly squeezing Ed’s hand as well. She wasn’t panicking quite yet, although she still needed to step out of the elevator. She’d let Ed lead her along so she didn’t bump into anyone.

She was trying her best to be in denial about her less-than-fine mental state. As if in an attempt to prove her claim, she started to blindly walk out of the elevator. The sooner she could get this over with, the better.

The reason she agreed to come up here was so that everyone else could enjoy the view, and the last thing she wanted to do was ruin that.

It was beautiful. She could see the city stretched out below, tiny people driving toy cars amongst towering structures of steel. It was also extremely terrifying. Jenny immediately shut her eye again, her legs somehow shaking even though she was sitting down.

There’s even a chick!” He hugged her tightly.

She had to see that baby bird, even if it meant risking going into a panic. Maybe she could minimize the potential for terror. ”May you please point my face in its direction?”

Jenny would’ve pressed her face up against the glass if it weren’t for her extreme terror at the thought. Seeing the chick made the fear well worth it.

Perhaps it didn’t realize how high up it was yet. That nest could still be its entire world. There wasn’t much to worry about in there. Sometimes Jenny wished her world was that small too.

He didn’t seem to notice the two people staring at him, or maybe he just didn’t care. A bird as adorable as he was probably got a lot of admirers. A shadow passed over the nest. ”Oh, there’s his mom!”

I don’t remember anything She’ll 100% try to save it if that’s what happens, though. The mama bird proceeded to feed her baby its lunch. It was gross. Jenny loved it. She swore she could hear the chick chirping happily, although the glass was too thick to actually hear anything. She pressed an ear up against the glass to see if that would help. All it did was remind her how high up they were and make her dizzy again.

He hadn’t been afraid of the height, but with Jenny so close to the edge…well, now he was.

The baby bird had ducked its head below the side of the nest and out of sight, presumably to go to sleep, so Jenny shut her eyes again. She slowly started backing up, going in the general direction of where they’d been sitting. Without the chick to distract her, she had quickly become overwhelmed. Her fear of heights didn’t seem to be easing up yet.
