"You're sorry?"

She nodded, clutching the sheep. "What did I do wrong?" She asked, voice muffled by the stuffed animal.

"You didn't... I needed you to understand why you shouldn't trust me. Or care."

She glanced up. "But... But you were so nice." She said, voice breaking. "I don't understand. You weren't pretending. If you were, you would have acted like you wanted to be my friend from the beginning, so why? Was... Was I too annoying?" She legitimately didn't understand his motives.

"In the end, people don't trust me. They betray me. Whether that's right or wrong off them, it's easier this way. It'll hurt less if we both know we can't trust each other."

"But I won't! I won't! I promise!" She said. She looked down at her shoes, and whispered "I still trust you."

after they booked tickets everyone found themselves settled into a cabin all to the group of demigods. roy was sitting next to the window. he had tried to be as far from edgar as possible for obvious reasons though he was glaring at him.

@Weaver of Lights

rob was wearing noise, canceling headphones and sitting in the corner of the train car, with his head out the window while looking very miserable.

"It's happened too many times before. It can't be different. If you try, it'll hurt more."

She looked at him. "I'd rather my trust be broken than be unable to trust." She said softly. She looked back down at her shoes.

"As sometime who's had their trust broken many times, it's not really preferable."

She just frowned. "Is... Is there anything I could do to prove that you can trust me? Please, just give me a chance." She said.

She deflated. "So, there's nothing I can do, huh?" She said miserably, eyes filling with tears again. "Okay. I..." She looked back at her feet. "I guess I'll have to prove it to you over and over again." She said, a bit of stubbornness entering her voice.

He just shook his head.

"I'm gonna take a nap." Elsie said, as the adrenaline finished completely fading. "Wake me up when we gotta go." She said, eyes closing.

Terrance just stayed there, feeling exhausted himself.

Edgar wrapped his arm around Jenny. He had given her a window seat, as he assumed she’d want the seat. He smiled at Roy.

@Lunamor

Ed had assumed correctly. Jenny had her face pressed against the glass, watching the scenery zoom by. She was absolutely fascinated by the train, happy that she had seen the white puffs of smoke and heard the whistle a few times. It was noisier than she had expected, but she was too excited for that to bother her.

”Look, there’s a cow! And a horse!”

She was particularly thrilled to see the farm animals standing in fields. You didn’t tend to see things like cows back at camp. This excitement was evidenced by her pointing out every single one she saw.

He laughed. “You’re going to like my house if you ever come by.” He snuggled a little closer to her, just as  fascinated by her as she was by the animals.

“Do you have animals?”

Before Ed could respond, she saw a sheep. It looked very, very fluffy. She now desperately wanted to pet one.

”Oh, a sheep! That’s new!”

 She hadn’t made eye contact with Ed yet, still completely engrossed by the view outside. This train was even better than she had expected.

“Yeah, we do. A lot, actually.” He kissed her cheek. “I like seeing you this excited about things.
