She shrugs. "Why would they have all these peacekeepers still? why does the capitol" she spits that word "still exist? and why, for gods sake, would they really have wanted to keep the kids of the capitol alive? this is their way of saying 'we still have control' without blatently saying it?"

"I didn't think . . ." He sunk down to sit on the steps. "I haven't really been out much . . . I guess I thought- I mean, I knew things were still not good but I didn't think . . ."

He put his head in his hands, trying to force away a massive flood of memories. He had been trying so hard to live despite everything that had happened. But now the same beast that had chewed him up was about to swallow Sharpo too.

Kandy sits next to him and hugs him. "It's ok. all we can do is hope and pray that Sharpo wont be chosen." She feels a tear coming to her eye. "The games were never good. now, we have to fight from the shadows. we are representation of the failed last games. The rebellion needed us. but the capitol children... they are disposable. but also they are symbolism of the old generation." she sighs.

Sharp'i tensed up when she touched him . . . it had been a long time since someone had given him a hug. But after a minute he slowly relaxes. "I didn't realize . . . I just didn't know." The small of amount of security he had felt in his current life was gone now.

"Oh, that's boring . . . come on!" Sharpo said, waving Kandy forward. A door at the top of the stairs lead to a hallway with more doors on either side. He moved down the hallway, somehow being speedy and perfectly quiet at the same time. He turned left at the end of it. Here there was another--though much shorter--flight of stairs with a small door at the top. He bounced up the stairs and went inside. 

Sharp'i followed after a few slow breaths.

The room, which was clearly an attic room, was decently sized. It was mostly empty except a bed moved up into one corner, and old rug, and a chest that sat against one wall. A large dusty window on the right let sunlight in.

Sharp'i sat on the bed, looking a little deflated, but managing a smile for Sharpo. The ten year old was digging through the chest looking for something.

"I'm gettin my book!" Sharpo said, excitedly. After digging under some neatly folded clothes and other things in the chest, he pulled out a thick and worn looking book, and a small bottle of paste.

Than, out of his pocket he pulled the receipt for the ice cream and the small paper thing that hand been on the cone. After plopping down on the floor he opened the book, and started to paste the 2 pieces of paper on a page with nothing else on it. 

"Need any help? Sharp'i asked, coming to sit down next to him. 

"No I got it this time."

"I know but I still worry . . ." Sharpo pulled his book in close to his chest. "Anyway, I thought I'd record everything in a book for Shar'i so if he does ever forget he can remember again, y'know? So I try and save stuff everyday and I write stuff sometimes too."

The door opened and the woman stepped inside. She was blonde with a thin, sharp (yes pun intended) frame, she looked older, perhaps late forties. 

Her expression did not change when she glanced between Sharp'i and Kandy, staying stern and tight. She didn't acknowledge Sharpo at all. 

"Who is that?" She asked pointing at Kandy.

"Um . . . well you see, she's . . . I mean she came to visit and . . ."

"I see . . . that seems out of character for you, son," She said, glancing Sharp'i's way.

"Um well you see . . ."

"I'm Sharon," She says, shaking Kandy's hand. "I was just coming to get Sharp'i for dinner, would you like to join us?"
