Most Epics responded to Koschei with "Haha! What are you going to do, heal me to death?"

Then Koschei would [DATA EXPUNGED] and everyone fell into line. :o

@Tulir: looks acceptable to Mine Eyes. I like Hydron. :)

Yeah, pretty much. The whole can't-gift-to-Epics thing was a bit of an obstacle, but if Koschei was good at one thing, it was overcoming obstacles.

Which might have been inspirational had he not been so terrifying. :o

He's like "The Little Engine That Could," except with murder. :o

Voidus, are you still adding your ideas to that google Doc?

I'm trying but I have a really long list and sometimes I don't remember whether or not I've already added someone, I'll probably add a batch in sometime today

Koschei (not Korshei) was pretty aggressive about recruiting, so Hydron would have had to stay out of his way completely, perhaps even disguising himself as a vanilla, if he wanted to avoid joining him. An Epic with powers as useful as his would have been high on Koschei's "Join me or die" list.

Other than that, it looks good.

Oops, I will change the name.  Also, that was more along the lines of what I was thinking, and keeping his humanity more by having to blend in.

Just a thought I had but perhaps Vondra could impose limits on how much Epics are allowed to use their power, that would prevent them from suffering from corruption permanently and make them less likely to try to overthrow him.

Sounds good.

And the power use limit sounds good too, I think--probably just the thing a leader who doesn't trust Epics would come up with, whether of not he knew that power use=corruption.

I like it. Consider it canon. :D

He doesn't know enough about Epics to understand the correlation between their power use and their (lack of) ethics, but as TwiLyght pointed out, it's perfectly in character for him to make such a decree.

That's an interesting rule, and it'll be fun to see.

Does anyone good at Photoshop stuff want to combine the windrunners symbol with the Edgedancers for Edgerunner's icon? It shouldn't be too hard.

I'm almost done with Frequency's bio and I'll post that tonight.

Here is Frequency's bio:

Epic Name: Frequency

Human Name: Quinn Franc

Weakness: <PM'd to the GM>

Primary Power: Natural Frequency. Frequency instinctively knows what the natural frequency of any object within a thirty foot radius of him is. If he concentrates on anything outside of that, he can learn what the object's natural frequency is. He can whistle to the exact frequencies he learns. The intensity of the resonance that occurs depends on his concentration. He can cause something to shake a little bit or completely shatter an object.

Secondary Power: His clapping can send a burst of air hurtling forwards. This can disrupt radio waves as well as impact people. People will feel the air hit them, it is enough force to cause them to stumble backwards, or, on occasion, knock them over.

Passive Power: Any radio waves in a fifty-yard radius, he can hear.

Appearance: Tall, he wears a suit with a short black cape. He carries a cane that is for appearance as well as fighting. He wears white gloves on his hands that have small metal pieces on the palms to increase the volume and power of his claps. Frequency slicks back his brown hair that is beginning to show signs of grey.

Age: 43

Home City: Outskirts of Eastern Portland. Once factions started building and tension rising, he decided to head somewhere less Epic-filled. He is just arriving in the Dalles.

Weaponry: Metal cane and a revolver.

Frequency is very cocky and very much a performer. He likes to talk and show off his powers. He whistles quite often, ready to switch frequencies if needed, and occasionally claps for fun.

I think he and Aldo would get along just great. ;)

Here's two epics for the Dalles. Let me know if I need to tone em down at all.

So the first one is a candidate for a villain/ nemisis for Vondra, and as such he's more powerful.

Quicksilver

Primary: Can completely control any metal he's touching. Can make it fluid and form it into practically anything, knives, shields, lock-picks, grappling hooks, etc. If he or the metal he's controlling touches metal he can use it. Must stay in contact though, can't control metal he's not using.

Secondary:  Can strengthen metal and make it lighter. if he takes control of some aluminum he can make it as strong as steel. He can also make steel that is as light as aluminum, while not compromising structural integrity.

Passive: Can sense metal sources. Greatly increased healing, takes alot to stop this guy. And he has greatly increased physical attributes.

Description: Zachariah Smith was a hit-man. He was good at what he did, but calamity made him better. He came to Dalles a short time after Vondra established himself. He had come too late to fill the immediate void that had been created so instead of ruling a city he decided to set up a crime ring. Since then, he's established himself as a ruthless crime lord, and become a major thorn in Vondra's side.

He is tall and broad, with buzzed grey hair and hard features. He lost one eye and replaced it with one made of metal that matches his real one, which is grey. Wears a long black trench coat with large sleaves over a black shirt and pants, as well as combat boots.

And I think you'll like this one

Prankster

Primary: He has the ultimate prankster powers. His hands are joy buzzers that can stun a gorilla, he conjures stink and smoke bombs out of thin air(and those little party snaps), as well as itch powder, the flower on his shirt squirts water, and he can conjure a can of "peanuts" that launches a projectile that's guaranteed to knock you out cold.

Secondary: His razor sharp wit!

Passive: Aura of Happiness. Everyone feels more jovial around him, and those standing close enough will always laugh at his jokes. Also has really good aim when throwing pies.

Description: Antonio Torres was a trouble maker growing up. He loved practical jokes, but he never knew when to stop. At 15 he ran away from home to join a circus. He learned from acrobats, knife throwers, and most importantly, clowns. He wouldn't wear the make up, so he was never allowed to perform, but he excelled at anything he tried. He was small and limber and very agile. But when Calamity came he ran for it, afraid of what people would do to him when they found out he was an epic. He is just arrived in Dalles a little while ago and has been getting up to mischief while dodging both the law and the criminals.

He's Puerto Rican with Taino in him, so he's got brown skin and very dark curly hair. At 18 years old, he's on the small side, barely reaching 5' 5". He wears a hooded patchwork cloak  that puts one in mind of a jester. Beneath that he wears a black t-shirt and a pair of jeans. With a lopsided smile and fingers that are too quick for his own good, he excells at charming his way out of sticky situations, which more often than not are brought upon him by his ow actions.

Also, in the Oregon thread, I have no idea who I should post for.

I really like the idea of an Epic crimelord as a thorn in Vondra's side. Quicksilver could be a really awesome foil/nemesis to Vondra. :D

The Prankster's definitely a neat character--he kind of reminds me of the Joker. What are the precise boundaries of his powers?

PrankMaster: A human whopee cushion, he can cause anybody to become flatulent.
An idea for either an additional ability or a companion Epic if Pranksters the type to have one, obviously PM will need a name change :P

Nooooo! Somebody upvote Voidus' last Oregon post because I have stupid fingers. :(

NO TECHNOLOGY IS SAFE.

What did Jeff's note say again? How specific did he get when talking about his feelings toward Penumbra? (I will not ship it. :P)

Protector's letter

Funtimes & Traveler,
I doubt this letter will be well received given recent events, I hope this will clear up some confusion.
The Epic who attacked you last night was another persona of Purple Phoenix, named Penumbra.
I apologize for the damage he caused and in my defense can only tell you that I did not know of his existence either.
Luckily Penumbra does not know of the issue we last discussed, nor does Phoenix, that secret is still safe.
It appears that I am actually an Epic after all.
I only control a small amount of the power, using too much would give Penumbra control again.
I do not know his weakness but I have discovered that he needs a clearly defined shadow to manipulate.
If he attacks again the best defense is to extinguish all lights, without a clear shadow of his own his powers will be vastly reduced.
I hope to meet you again in better circumstances.

Your friend, Protector

We need a champion to fight his tyranny. Someone cheerful. Crazy enough to fight him.

We need Doctor Funtimes.

“You should have acted. They are already here. The Board Admins told of their return. Their defeat was merely a delay, until the time after the RP opened, when the sons of Oregon would upvote their posts. But no one wanted to believe, believe they even exist. And when the limit finally dawned, it dawned in Quota! But… there is one they fear in their tongue, she is Funtimes, Upvote-born!”

Yeah, a companion epic would be cool. He should also have the power to make people sneeze as well.

It occurs to me how much Lightwards would fear an epic who could make him flatulent at will...

He would lose all authority in a heartbeat.

He can generate an electric shock equal to that of a cattle prod, but he rarely makes it that powerful. he can conjure smoke/stink bombs in his hands two at a time. They can explode on impact or have a fuse. He can create a thin steady stream of itching powder. And he can summon cans that when opened release a non-lethal projectile. He can determine the force at which the projectile is launched when he summons the can, as well as what is launched, as long as it is non-lethal. He can summon one can at a time, but can summon another as soon as he puts one down or gives it to someone else. He wears a sunflower on his shirt that can squirt water at various temperatures, as well as lemon juice. Range of this is about 20 feet. What is interesting is that he can't kill people with his powers. he can come pretty close though.

I did base him off the Joker, but less no make up. And mass murderings. Those too.

It still feels a little odd that he has so many powers held together with nothing but a common theme, but I suppose Epic powers don't have to make sense. And he'll definitely be a neat addition to our ever-growing cast of characters. :)

So I guess the Epics in The Dalles are split between Vondra and Quicksilver at the moment, yes?

(I keep thinking of Quicksilver from X-Men when I see that name. :P)
