is the short man Carl by any chance?

 

"hello who are you?" i ask to the small person sitting amonst the strange tall sticks of green. i burn iron and i pull the device towards myself.

As you pull on the device a light on the top turns on. "hey!" The thing snaps as he grabs it. Despite his short stature he is surprisingly heavy.  "That thing was very hard to come by!" He looks from you to the light. "if you must know my name is Fane. I specialize in finding and making discoveries about other worldly characters such as yourself. More and more of your kind have been showing up here lately."

"what do you mean more like myself?" i ask fane. "who else is here?" i look around and see someone with pale skin and ash stained clothes. i go to investigate and i see that he has a mistcloak on his back.

Carl suddenly woke up, instantly on alert he burnt tin and copper. He heard a man talking to some other man about strangers appearing here, where was here? he didn't feel any Ash so he certainly wasn't where he had fallen asleep and what was this green stuff and were those trees? the sky was blue too. Carl continued to breathe deeply and pretend he was asleep, as the first man who had talked got closer he got ready to pull out his daggers.

i burned puwter, copper and bronze before getting closer to the sleeping ashstaind person. "who are you. are you from the final empire?"

Fane Looks sharply over "oooh, two in one day! What a treat!" 

Fane glances at the sun as it starts to approach the horizon. "You two should come with me! I'll explain to you what i've learned about this situation along the way, and if you stay in the forest the phantom will eat your soul!"

i stop burning metals and follow fane. he leads deeper into the mess of greeness.

Sighing Carl finally decided to get up and follow the dude cuz he figured it's better than staying in the forest and besides there's a phantom of some sort, he'd have to find out more about that, still flaring tin and copper, he started flaring Bronze too and, as always, was burning steel, he followed the dude and said “so tell me about this Phantom thing”.

He also answer the other mistborn dude and said “yes I'm a mistborn”.

vashar resumes burning bronze pewter and copper and starts burning steel to create a protective bubble around myself incase this other mistborn tries anything.

At first I thought it must be from your world as i'm always told it's such a dreary and dead place, but after talking more with Calden, he's my helper, I discovered that it from somewhere else. It killed a poor fellow the other night, his withered skeleton lay beside a burnt out campfire."

You approach a door in the side of a rock. Outside you see a small skaa boy tending a garden. "Calden! I hope you didn't eat all the pork, because we have some guests tonight."

"You know burning bronze and copper at the same time dose not do much good unless you have extra strong bronze like me or extra weak copper. Also that steel bubble doesn't really help you much if you wanted to protect against me, and my name is carl whats yours?"

"my name is vashar. im not used to dealing with a mistborn so i forgot that i wont be able to feel anything. the bronze was just in case and the copper was to protect my emotions. i have heard stories about something similar. it was an old book. shadows of silence in the forests of hell. it was just a fairy tale i thought. i don't remember much of what happened in the book. "hum Intresting, nice to meet you Vasher, since you seem to be the most informed on the subject you should tell us a bit more about these phantoms, such as what makes them angry? Not sure how l'II deal with them l'II have to try burning chromium and aluminum”, then he also follows fane Into his house to eat pork.

"you keep aluminum on yourself. or did you mean duraluminum. please don't use chromium. i will just eat more and to the same on yourself. i think something about silver stopping them. running and fire angering them. oh and blood does something as well. i don't remember. it was a long time ago. I don't have a coppermind in case you didn't know."

WeII l have both but l mean trying to use it on the Phantom not you, you seem confused about how you said that, if I fight the Phantom l will probably try burning aIuminum and Chromium

As you enter Fane's home you notice that some spare blankets and bedrolls are already in his living room. Calden starts cooking dinner, while Fane asks you details about what year it was on your world and about some of the major happenings on Scadrial, taking notes along the way.

Fane leans back in his chair "Well, that's a big question, but i'll summarize some of the main differences i've noticed. This world has a large mixture of sapient life, though most aren't too different from humans. I am what is called a dwarf. This place has much more magical elements compared to other worlds." Now that he says that there does seem to be a raw form of energy that just hangs in the air, but you for some reason can't access it. "This specific place has been named scavenger's wilds in the recent year. This is the hot spot for other worldly appearances. A word of advice, there are two types of people never to trust out here: goblins, small green people, and the so called adventuring parties!"
