Thanks for the answer, but I was thinking about the the "dreams" "timetravel" sequence when Dalinar? sees the knights of old give up their shardplates and weapons and lets the common soldiers have them. The Knight Radiants (the dudes with armor in the flashback) did not leave because the Heralds left (the betrayal we see at the beginning of the book). Huntington Beach Q&A QUESTION Did the Radiants pack it in in direct response to what the Heralds did? BRANDON SANDERSON The Radiants did NOT abandon their post as a response to the Heralds.
