She thought to him, Pic, I.. I understand, but I also don't. I love you - so much - and I always will. But this... I understand that you feel... threatened, I suppose, in a way, by Elan, but as long as I had you, I would have stayed with you, because I do love you.

But... If this is what you want, I won't stop you. A tear rolled down her cheek, but she wiped it away.

At a spot in the Clinic, Pic smiled. Tears silently rolled down his cheek. After a moment of pure silence, he began to whistle. Shakily, he continued his cleaning, sweeping in 3/4 time, stepping and twirling with his broom as his partner. Aventine's waltz echoed through the empty halls around him, and his tears fell on the floor, only to be swept away to the point of evaporation. His whistling and steps became smoother, more confident, until he finished the song and halted his steps abrubtly, tears streaming down his face. He took a deep breath to halt his crying, closed his eyes, and started to hum a new song.

If pic does come back (which wont be for a very long time if at all), I don't know how he would feel, but he would be a much kinder soul, and also much more guarded.

She looked up at it. The reflection made her gray eyes look blue.

Using the shard that he still touched, TAAron looked for other magical connections of hers, things that could explain her power or invincibility in the absence of her hive.
