Hemalurgical Resurrection? Kelsier Reborn the Worldhopper

“Well,” Kelsier said, “I don’t think it matters if you came back. We could just say this is me from the middle of the first Mistborn book. Besides, I think I eventually got better myself.”

“Doesn’t count. You became a disembodied voice that may or may not have actually been speaking into the mind of a young boy who was probably insane.”

“Yes,” Kelsier said, “but my series has a long way to go yet. Who knows what could happen? I’ve heard that some very remarkable things can happen with spikes . . ."

“You’ll find I’m good at doing the impossible,” Kelsier said. “It’s one of my specialties.”

1. We know that for a while that Kelsier was basically the caretaker of Preservation after his death, we also know he hung around because of this.

2. Preservation preserves things. This could have a lasting effect on the very nature of Kelsier.

3. We know Hemalurgy being burnt allomantically welds personality and spirit web onto an individual and that Scadrial south has fabrial like allomancy.

Could Kelsier be a world hopper by now? Perhaps someone who had been spiked and imbibed some of the mists? Someone we've already seen? Hell he could even be using a mistwraith's body, reborn as a Kandra, I'm sure his bones are lying around somewhere.

This would make his nickname the Survivor even more literal.

1. For like three weeks (that might be head canon), but he stayed technically because things (the Church of the Survivor) and people (Vin and the Crew) kind of bound him to the realm. Probably helps that Preservation likes to preserve things and his religion reflects that. Also, the belief of the members of his Church helped. Belief is like that in the Cosmere.

2. Yes, agreed. Making a verb from an intent; a good trick to understanding Shardic stuff.

3. ? I guess, but it still seems far flung to me...

I'm not sold on this. I think Kelsier's still technically a Cognitive Shadow (there's a WoB somewhere that says this, I think, I'm sure someone else can fetch it), though the very nature of Preservation (as you pointed out) might have some interesting effects on formally-human-cognitive-entities, I think that is what we should expect. This doesn't mean that Cognitive Shadows can't worldhop, but I think that Kelsier's a bit too personally invested (no pun intended) in Scadrial to leave it. That's why he stayed, after all...

Though...if it's possible for Cognitive Shadows to worldhop, I wonder what would happen if a few thousand members of the Church of the Survivor and Kel moved to Roshar... How would Cultivation's Intent (or passive Investiture...) effect that? I guess what I'm really wondering is how much belief does it take for an idea to develop into a truth/ideal, and, also, is it possible for a Cognitive Shadow to pick up Spren-like attributes because they're both cognitive entities...

Oh, whoops. Sorry for the rampage of off topicness...

Also just because he likes to interfere with things :D

I don't think Kels going to be resurrected, he's a bit too reckless to be able to really have a role in future books outside of just being a disembodied adviser, that said I do definitely think he's going to impact future Mistborn characters.
