Ok, so my wife is getting me the Star Wars: TOR game for Christmas. I am curious if anyone else will be playing. I would like to have a few friends in the new game.

The thread is breaking the rules, b/c Star Wars is obviously not fantasy. :D

Hey, this is General Discussion, we talk about cooking here. I think I might've mentioned sci-fi in--gasp--a book thread once :D

I won't be playing myself--not much of a gamer--but I expect I'll hear a lot about it since I spend some time on 501st forums.

I'm gonna move this into Entertainment Discussion, if you don't mind me doing so.

I... I don't know. TOR has interested me, because I loved Knights of the Old Republic (the second one a little less so). I want to know more, I want to play in that world more. But my brother's played it, and he said the gameplay was fairly conventional. Maybe he changed his mind since then. I should ask him...

That said, I simply don't have time to play ten BioWare games to get all the Old Republic story I need. It's as simple as that, really. I think I'll always rather prefer single player games.

I'm more excited about Guild Wars 2.

tit-for-tat, the gameplay is pretty obviously ripped off from WoW with a few minor changes. For example, there's no auto-attack, instead you have an ability that costs 0 force that attacks for like 3 attacks and its cooldown equals its total casting time. So instead of autoattack, you spam an ability, or you use one of your actual good (costly) abilities. There's also light/dark side points. It's not a bad game, in fact, i found it fairly fun for the bit i played it (got to level 15-ish on a weekend beta). The cut scenes and all were pretty neat, and it really helps in my opinion for you actually caring about the lore/quest/whatever. I don't honestly know if i would pay a monthly fee for it, it's too "standard" when it comes down to it with nothing terribly new.
