Variance continued to stand by them, silent, watching the others talk. He focused carefully to keep him form from blurring at the edges. This was taking a while.

I joined a resistance and met some wizards and almost liberated my home city but then they just invaded it again. Turns out it's impossible to take them down by force, so instead my friends and I spent years studying Beorin protocols and codes and tracking wherever they are... and turns out they have access to far more forms of power than you could count."
