"So... Vari." Ayia said, hesitantly. "I want to make sure that you're... sure. About whatever it is you're doing."

"What do you mean by 'whatever it is I'm doing?'"

"Well you were adamant about going back and letting yourself die, and then suddenly you... weren't that?"

"I dunno. Like I said, something just... changed."

Ayia frowned, looking away. "That... doesn't sound good."

"Isn't it? A pretty major concern of mine has been that my mind is incapable of change and growth. Hopefully, that isn't entirely true."

You act... very childish. "So your certainty is just a fact now?"

"I'm not very certain about anything. But I don't see it as a bad thing that you were able to change my mind, even if it was through... unusual means."

Ayia shook her head. "Because that's not how changing your mind is supposed to work."

"Does it matter? It's not like I just unquestioningly accepted everything you believe. I think... maybe I just could see things the way you saw them, completely, for a short time. And that helped."

Interesting. "The problem is that... in this line of work - fighting and running and stuff - not being committed to something is... bad."

"Yes. This is what we talked about. And I think I understand you more than I did. Which is good, right?"

You've been around for millions of years... but Vari, you're such a child.

"Maybe."

"I'm mainly asking because you seem to be pretty volatile in terms of what you want and think is right. You've convinced me, so I really don't understand what you're hung up on."

Szeth, are you considering joining in or did you just stop by?

Just keeping caught up. Idk if Allera wants to say anything. It feels too late to answer the thing about the trail, so I think they’re just gonna let this conversation play out

You can definitely still answer it. Considering the nature of RPs, I don't think we have to be too concerned about bulletproof continuity.

"It's... difficult to explain."

Ayia sighed, rubbing the back of her neck. "Ah... where to begin... it's... uncertainty is dangerous. One of my best friends I've ever had was always second-guessing himself, and when it comes to killing demigods and sealing away cosmic horrors, you need to be absolutely stable with yourself in every respect - so he tripped over himself. And it almost killed literally everyone on his world. The problem was that he didn't know why he was trying to save everyone in the first place... it seems so simple that if you have the power to save the world that you gotta save the world, but he just couldn't see what was so important about it in the long run.

"It's... the same thing that happened to me, the night Élter died. He was the last friend I had, and I went off and killed a bunch of people. Bad guys, sure, but still... and it even led to me pretty much saving the world, if you're naïve enough to think it's easy as that to change a whole planet's society. It was out of revenge, because I didn't even realize by then that the only reason I was fighting was because of him. I was fighting as a child because of my mom, I was fighting after that because Iod, and then I was fighting after him because of Élter. And then after I killed that throne-squandering bastard, I just... stopped."

"So what do you want from me? You want me to be completely certain about whatever choice I make? Or just understand my own motivation better?"
