Hoid. The man, the myth, the guy who will insult you so you punch out his teeth so he can spy on someone. We know this man has connections to the original shards. I saw a theory that he is trying to rebuild andolism and is collecting the power of the Invested arts so he can Connect to the shard in order to hold it. So is he trying to connect to all the shards and then wait for a large event to arise where he then takes them all up to become Adolism. I also want to point out a phrase Hoid says in ToTES "I am guilty of saying that phrase to someone, sixteen people actually" How do you quote something in a dropdown? I fear I misquoted. Also, Rysn(?) (Odium) has extreme feelings of hate toward Hoid but this could just be the influence of the shard itself. Please help my thoughts are tangled up and I'm really curios about this.

Personally I don't think Hoid wants to be Adonalsium Remade, nor that collection Invested Arts will help him wih that. He already rejected the offer to Ascend during the Shattering, and he likely regrets being part of it now (https://wob.coppermind.net/events/171/#e8225) . As Kelsier proved, having access to Invested Art of a Shard doesn't provide enough Connection to that Shard to Ascend - Kelsier was an Allomancer (which comes from Preservation and is fueled by him), and yet without the Ire Orb, he wouldn't be able to Ascend to Preservation, and while being a Shard, be barely held it in control. Hoid having just all Invested Arts won't give him necessary Connections to hold all of them comfortable, he would liekly need to do far more to be able to hold them all.

Use the " button at the top of your post writing panel, 6th from the left side. If you want to quote someone else's post, use "Quote" at the bottom of their post, and if that's multiple posts, you can add all of them by pressing the + button at the bottom of their post, and the "Quote x posts" at the bottom right side of the screen.

Rysn(?) (Odium)

Rayse is the Vessel of Odium. Rysn is a trader from Tayhlen city. Hoid and Rayse rivery might predate the Shattering, as he mention in the First Letter that he disliked him as a person:

Quote

Ati was once a kind and generous man, and you saw what became of him. Rayse, on the other hand, was among the most loathsome, crafty, and dangerous individuals I had ever met.

Edit: He likely does want to remade Adonalsium, but I doubt he want to be its Vessel, if there can be a Vessel for Adonalsium

What qualification do you need to Ascend?

You need not only a very strong Connection to that particular Shard, but also a good understanding of his nature. That's why Kel had such troubles as Preservation, he was lacking both of them. The very first thing he tried to do was to throw his power against Ruin to hurt him and nothing happened as Preservation's power opposed that.

What did the Ire orb have that give you connection?

That's it, it gave him strong Connection to Preservation.

Another thing why did he have other people ascend "for their own good"?

Hoid said to Adonalsium, together with 16 people, that they were doing it for his (Adonalsium's) own good. And some of those people taking part in this wanted power, and for other reasons.

We know barely anything about this event. We know Hoid was part of it, he thought it was a necessary action, Dawnshards were used, one Shard offered itself to Hoid, but he refused, and 16 people Ascended and became Shards. Not much more. We don't know whose idea that was, who was a leader of this, and certainly we don't know if Hoid had other people Ascend. They were likely there for their own reasons.

What is a Dawnshard again I don't remember them being mentioned in books but I might have just missed

Well, there is this whole book named "Dawnshard", that should be read in between Stormlight Archive 3 and 4 (Oathbringer and Rhythm of War). There you can find a lot of information about Dawnshards, as you would expect from a book named Dawnshard :P

Basically Dawnshards are a very powerful Command, which can supercharge Invested Art you are using, to achieve something that is impossible without them. There are no known examples of using any Dawnshards except for the Shattering of Adonalsium, and a second one related to the Stormlight Archive. So did you read SA?

All 4 main books

Then I strongly advise you to read Edgedancer and Dawnshard novellas.

To be fair, I strongly advise you to read all of Cosmere!
