Dellexe he/him Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I would just drop in on Jasnah and Hoid as they returned to civilization. I can see it now.... I fell through the void. I saw a light. I reached for it, grasping towards it with all my might. With a flash of energy I fell out of the air above two people sitting by a fire. I felt a shockwave of energy ripple out behind me as the door to the Void closed. One of them, a tall, tan skinned woman whom I recognized to be Jasnah Kholin thrust forth her hand and summoned her Shardblade. I froze, feeling the condensation from the Blade's summoning wetting the skin of my neck. "Uh, hi," I said haltingly. "What are you doing here?" Jasnah demanded, eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and hostility. "I'm from another world. Ask Hoid- er, Wit, he can probably explain more about the mechanics of Worldhopping." I replied slowly. "I have some information you need." Hoid was up and walking towards me slowly, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Jasnah," he said. "I think you can stop threatening this young man's life. He knows enough that he knows he has no chance of harming either of us. Even if he is carrying a weapon." I glanced down at my hand. A sleek black compound bow rested comfortably in my fist. I had nearly forgotten I had it with me. Jasnah dismissed her sword with a flick of her wrist, but did not change her stance. She was ready to spear me if I so much as twitched in the wrong direction. "Alright," she said. "What vital knowledge do you have for us?" And then I go on to explain things they should know. Then I ask if Hoid can give me any Breath in exchange for the info, explaining that I understand the principles of Awakening and could be more useful in helping him if I had enough Breath to do basic things with, but not enough to be really threatening. I think he would give me around 50 Breath or so in exchange for the information. No? I can be hopeful, at least...
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 How would they know you had Info, or even if you had trustworthy Info?
Swimmingly he/him Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 More likely: I felt a sudden, absolute calmness as Hoid looked at me. Brass, I thought. He's burning brass. But I couldn't do anything about it. I sat down, trying to shake off that horrible apathy, but it was so much easier to just fall asleep. The last thing I heard was Hoid, rifling through my pockets and pulling out my wallet. "What language is this on these cards? I've never seen anything like it!" 3

Jo and the Bush all/any Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) Just shout "Midus! Wait! I know about you're role in the Shattering!" I really want to see if Hoid would kill to protect this Scret. Edited June 9, 2014 by Hello. My name is Joe 1
Dellexe he/him Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Just shout "Midus! Wait! I know about you're role in the Shattering!" I really want to see if Hoid would kill to protect this Scret. I feel like he might just kill me immediately if he thought I knew enough about his past to threaten him. I was just going to go for basic Cosmere knowledge, enough to interest him.
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Did you Read the White text? MUAHAHAHAHA!!! No One will find This. 1
Dellexe he/him Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Yes. I'm habitually checking your posts for white text now. I FOUND IT. Did you Read the White text? MUAHAHAHAHA!!! No One will find This. 1
Swimmingly he/him Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Joe, you've conditioned me into highlighting every blank line I see. When I reread things I've written in MS Word, I highlight the lines in case there's anything hidden. 1
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) ButHyouEwon'tLfindLthisOText. No Not this Text, The Other Text. Anyway. Hoid can't actually Hurt anyone. The worst he could do is Sick Jasnah on you. And Blame Claincy. He started it. Edited June 9, 2014 by Hello. My name is Joe
Dellexe he/him Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Hello. ButHyouEwon'tLfindLthisOText. No Not this Text, The Other Text. Anyway. Hoid can't actually Hurt anyone. The worst he could do is Sick Jasnah on you. And Blame Claincy. He started it. Well, I'm terrified of Jasnah. Her first reaction to Hoid was holding a sword at his throat. Imagine if you just fell into their campsite, a completely random guy holding a bow. I feel like my eyes would be burning before I got a single word out. 1
Kurkistan he/him Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 And Blame Claincy. He started it. I do blame Claincy. You too, though.
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) Why were you holding a Bow in the First Place? Edited June 9, 2014 by Hello. My name is Joe
Swimmingly he/him Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Ways Hoid could hurt/escape you without directly harming you (this is assuming whatever rules he follows prevent him from harming at all rather than killing) 1. Sooth you to sleep and steal all your possessions, leaving you naked in the wilderness 2. Lightweave himself carrying on a conversation with you while running in the other direction. 3. Steelpush you into a tree - gently - and tie you up there while Soothing your hope and Rioting your terror. 4. Hop into Shadesmar and Soulcasters the ground around your feet to quicksand, just up to your feet. 5. Use feruchemical steel to tie you up before you can react. Etc.
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I Think he's more limited than That. #2 is the Only One I'm certain he could do. One Bathroom Joke, and I start Downvoting.
Swimmingly he/him Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Then how could he justify "leaving your entire world and everyone on it to burn"?
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 He's not directly Interferring. He's just sitting there playing his Fiddle while Roshar Burns. He didn't set the Fire, or push on a Lamp or Time someone to a tree to stop them from stopping the Fire.
Dellexe he/him Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I have a bow because if I'm gonna be stuck on Roshar I want some kind of weapon. And I own a black compound bow.
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 You Too cannot Write White Text. A Bow? Why not go full on and bring a Sniper Rifle? Or a Tactical Drone? Or some Sentinels? Or an Army? Personally, I would bring a Flashlight, a Towel, and a Crowbar. and a Coppermind full of The Internet.
Swimmingly he/him Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Assuming Hoid knows the trick to stealing metalminds, you could probably sell that to him for his store of Breath. Wikipedia alone would be enough. Theoryland, containing every Brandon interview, would be some sort of bible. 17th Shard would be something like every edition ever of the Annals Theological*. *does not exist, probably. 1
Dellexe he/him Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) I was trying to go for something not wholly out-of-universe, haha. If I could, I would definately take an assault rifle and a load of ammo. - I could download everything onto my phone, and trade that for the Breath. Hoid has displayed some tendencies to be honest/fair with the people he's dealing with, so long as it doesn't interfere with his plans. (For instance, he admits that while he would like to help, but if it got in his way he would watch Roshar burn, instead of promising to help and later giving up on them). I could give him all the knowledge of the 17th Shard (and maybe ebook versions of all the books) in return for enough Breath to do basic Awakening (if I lived through the first through seconds of the encounter with him and Jasnah). I wonder if anyone will read this white text. Also, Sanderson created the Cosmere. Adonalsium created the Cosmere. SANDERSON IS ADONALSIUM. *gasp* EDIT: I will also bring bacon. Hoid likes bacon. Dellexe he/him Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) That's some nice beige text What beige text? OH NO. I'VE BEEN FOUND OUT! For those wondering, I accidentally picked the wrong shade when colouring my text. Edited June 9, 2014 by Kal Dell
Shaggai Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 4. Hop into Shadesmar and Soulcasters the ground around your feet to quicksand, just up to your feet. That would just get your feet wet. Quicksand is a thin layer of sand floating on top of water. It looks solid, which is why it's so dangerous. It doesn't actually suck you down or anything. He'd have to Soulcast it much deeper to have an effect. Up to your chest, maybe. Then you wouldn't die, but you'd have something of a difficult time escaping.
