Storyspren Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 I can't sleep without Audiobooks but am looking for something new after the second full Mistborn through TLM listen. Currently in my audible wishlist: Some Michael J Sullivan, Some Jemison, Some Rhett C Bruno, Some Brandon Mull and "Fairy Tales" and "Babel" along with some embarrassing litrpg stuff. Assume I have read all classic Sci-fi, most but not all classic fantasy, all Scalzi, All Greg Egan, all Brent Weeks, all James Islington (who by the way I half suspect IS Brandon Sanderson's alter ego), almost all Robert J Sawyer, All Ernest Kline, All Andrew Rowe ( I know but he's funny!), All Stross, All Sawyer, All Will Wight.... Someone help me!!! Please!!!!

Sullivan, his Riyria series is excellent and the narrator does a great job. Some other audiobooks I like: the Kingkiller Chronicles series by Patrick Rothfuss and the Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch. I also love the Aubrey/Maturin audiobooks, but it's very jargon-heavy historical fiction so might not be your cup of tea. Does come endorsed by Peter Ahlstrom though lol. Based on the stuff you've read I think you might like the Vlad Taltos series by Steven Brust, but I haven't listened to the audiobooks so I don't know how good the narrator is. Lord Gregorio he/him Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 I'll just throw some good books I know out there. Not sure if they're audio books or not. Peter and the Star-catchers (Like a teen or more mature version of Peter-Pan) Jurassic Park Wizard for Hire - Obert Skye Brandon Mull has a lot of good ones. You should read all of them. (Five Kingdoms, Dragonwatch, Fablehaven, Candy Shop War, Beyonders) The Wingfeather Saga Gregor the Overlander is great, but a bit different. I have weird taste, I think. I can't remember many more, but I might be back. If you need any more help. 1
Quantus he/him Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Codex Alera by Jim Butcher. Phenomenal high fantasy, complete at 6 books, and it's narrated by Kate Redding. If you dont know her name, her and her husband Michael Kramer do the narration for nearly all of Sanderson's works (most recently together as a team for stormlight novels). 1

Kate Redding is Michael Kramer's wife? Mind blown. *pshewww* Also Michael Kramer is one of the best narrators out there.

This is an every night problem. Vlad Taltos you say! That one looks really promising. You saved my month! And Sullivan is bumped up in priority. I have had a lot of misses lately. You mentioned Patrick Rothfuss. I just discovered the joy of complaining about the non-existence of Doors of Stone on the Rothfuss reddit. Recommended. Thank you! 1

I had no idea they were married. They are top of the field. I will listen to anything Michael Kramer reads. Him and Nick Podehl. Kate Redding is one of the few female narrators I can tolerate for sleep purposes.
