"Six, huh? That's pretty big." Aolicei stroked the top of Shana's head a little. "And you're really brave and strong, too."

Par glanced at Aolicei inquisitively.

"Mhm! I bet you could fight a monster all by yourself."

Her eyes widened. "A monster? Have you seen a monster before?" She asked, looking between Aolicei and Par.

"A couple. They like eating people's cucumbers."

"Really? Cucumbers? I thought those were illegal!"

"I don't think so..."

"Oh. Okay."

Emerik looked down at her, and decided to give her his spare knife he carried. "Here," He offered it to her, "I promise I won't hurt you, I just want you to have this. You look pretty strong, you should have something to fight with."

She took it. "Thank you?" She said, a bit unsure.

She pointed to the room she had hidden in.

Par carefully stood up, holding her. He felt dizzy, and not just from the blood. He definitely had a concussion.

Aolicei frowned. Well that won't do. Maybe those guards had been out of line, but they'd been right about having to keep her safe. "How about you stay with us for now? We'll get you cleaned up and everything."

Emerik looked at her and said, "I don't know how to deal with kids, It's ok for them to have knives, right?"

"No." Aolicei mouthed.

"Okay." She replied.

"Are we sure she shouldn't just go to bed? I can keep watch on her."

"A lady," Aolicei replied, "ought to stay in a lady's room."

With that she took Shana's hand and led her up to... well, wherever their rooms were. It had only just occurred to her that nobody had told them where they'd all be staying.

Par is holding her, but okay. Also, her room is down where they are, isn't it?

"I could turn into a cat and hide. That'd be more effective."

Oh yeaaaaaah. I forgot about that.

Someone directed her to the area they would be staying.

Shana yawned, but tried to hide the yawn.

Voice a little lower so that Shana couldn't hear, Aolicei replied, "We do need to keep eyes on her. I'll be with her in the room, and if you don't mind staying up, then see if you can keep an eye on the hall. I... don't know how much I trust the others. Or you, but... well..."

You take some and you leave some.

"D'you wanna take a bath in the morning, hun?"

I have to go temporarily. She can fall asleep on the way to the room or something.

But I have to get my homework done, so...

Par lowered his voice as well. "Okay. You can trust me. I couldn't hurt anyone, let alone a child." He transformed into an ordinary, very cute, gray housecat.
