"I don't care who it is, just help out of here. These guys are heavy."

yeah, we should probably just stop here before we get any more involved. (a.k.a. I forget we're supposed to have stopped and continue the story in my own wacky way)

Aolicei gave them another, massive sister stare.

"Explain yourselves!" She demanded.

"We have orders!" One of them complained. "We were ordered to find the child and arrest her. She was the only one who would have known where Hank was..." He sighed. "It's not like we want to go around arresting kids."

"Hank? Who's Hank?" Who names their child Hank?

"...The guy who was just murdered." The guard said, as if it was obvious.

Aolicei set her hands over Shana's ears.

"And who's ordering you to take his daughter into custody over that?"

"The Guard Captain's second in command. Hank's wife was murdered last year, and this is partially to make sure she isn't possessed or something, and partially to make sure no one comes in and finishes the job..."

"Lead with that, then! You're telling me the late king has such an incompetent guard force that they just run in and grab people without saying a word?"

"How were we supposed to know that you weren't complicit in the murder? And, to be fair, our captain was just murdered..." He looked at Hank's corpse.

"And such an incompetent guard captain that--"

No. This is her father, remember.

Aolicei let out a puff of air, dropping her head for a moment before looking back up at the guards. "Well, clearly we're a safer bet for the kid than the lot of you right now." She took Shana and pulled her close. "Now can you please explain what the bloodsuckles is going on here?"

He deadpanned. "There was an assassination attempt on the king. Hank managed to get the assassin away from the king, but..."

"Just now? Right now? An... assassin killed the guard captain?"

Despite herself, Aolicei gave a glance at Abihal. No, it almost definitely wouldn't have been her... but seriously, out of everyone here, she was the one who showed up with a bloody knife in her bag.

"What about the lights? They all went out just before he killed him. Is that some kind of... witchcraft?"

He grimaced. "Yes. Not only that, but we believe that the assassin was helped by someone who was in the castle at the time of the murder."

Autocorrect literally just changed time to Tim. I'm dying over here.

Emerik shoved his way out from the guards that had tackled him. He prodded the guard he had felled with his foot, he groaned. "Maybe I shouldn't have been so quick to attack."

Isa reeled from the death and violence. “Woah, guys, can we just… chill out for a second over here?” she began weakly, but she didn’t expect anyone to be listening. Maybe this isn’t as much of a game as I first thought.

"And you think she could have done it?" Par was still holding the child.
