She listened in for a few minutes. I wonder if there’s anything I can do to help, she thought. I mean, I’m good with kids, right? I have magic and stuff, maybe I can figure out something.

From the looks of things that stranger was from a universe with similar physics and dictating laws, which helps; and in order to come here it would’ve had to have been an open universe in the first place.
