The problem is with his soul actually. It's like there's something else there. An odd connection.

Haly eagerly latched onto a new solution. {it’s the manipulator! Malum. He manipulated TAAron the first time, and he couldn’t do anything. Malum must be getting stronger.} 

For some reason, this made her hopeful, or excited.

”I can knock him out,” Sykel offered.

The words were accompanied by an earsplitting ringing noise, as though a small explosion had just gone off in the small hallway.
