"Sure thing. Anyone could use it. That stone is solid magical energy. As long as you have any way to use magic whatsoever, then soaking in its power to use is as easy as breathing."

"It does take quite a lot. And I can't absorb all of the energy from it."

"From this thing, I don't think it's worth the risk. Besides... there's only a limited amount of energy in that thing, even though it's quite a lot." Vance took in a breath, then reached out and grabbed the staff. Its energy began coursing through him, but he cycled it right back into the gem for the time being. "We'll keep it on hand for now. I imagine it'll be good for emergencies."

Vance huffed, then held it out. "Just one hand on it. If you explode that way, hopefully it'll only be half as bad."

It's just really highly-concentrated magical energy. You can control how much it flows into you, but controlling the flow back out is more difficult. Usually you'd use it to supercharge your existing powers, your body/soul/whicheverIhaven'tdecidedyet converting it into the usable type that actual wizards use.

If I had to guess, to Antin it would feel akin to getting tasered with magical energy.

"Certainly. This thing is useful for just about everybody." Vance managed to get the flow of energy from it back under control, just about cutting off the magical power influx. "For now, I think we should probably keep going; or get back with Quest and Kealie at the very least."
