i was talking to xino but this works :D

Hyron opened their mouth to say "Stalks" right as Miyako said "Tides." Instead, they said, "Yeah. Tides."

They then immediately launched themselves off the ship and onto an island with a vine. They shouted for joy, sitting down. "Ground!" They turned back to Miyako, grinning like a fool.

Then they blushed. "Sorry," they shouted, "I missed the ground." As if they were returning to an old lover, they reached out and caressed the ground.

Quote

Ah, sorry. That is my bad. I am bad at context.

But also, cool :D

Miyako stood on the edge of the ship, looking down at the vessel. The rocks had left a giant crack in the hull. She noted Hyron acting like a fool and smiled inside, but just a little. She had bigger things to worry about.

The ship is in no condition to sail and we are on this mess of an island. How are we going to keep the crew feed and alive? Let alone Yerik and Hyron? She was confident Hyron could survive in this but Yerik was a debatable case.

Miyako looked out across the landscape contemplating her next move. She could leave them, cut ties. It's easier to survive when your alone.

A week ago, Miyako would have cut ties and left. Connection only holds people down, or so she said, but this time something seemed different. Miyako couldn't name what it was, but this time she would stay. This time, she wouldn't fail the people that trusted her.

Resolute in her decision, Miyako called out to Hyron, "Come up here, we need to decide what the tides to do!" She strode back to the hold, looking for Yerik and that bossy sailor guy.

Quest might notice that as their experimentation goes on, the black and white contrast of Antin's skin, eyes, etc. gets increasingly intense, which he wouldn't have thought possible initially.

Quest will notice and be concerned eventually, but he is just very absent minded.

Quest found Antin a very amiable partner as they continued the studies. Quest like chatting and posed many questions to Antin. They continued into the late evening, working side by side, content with companionship.

"Antin, what drives you?" Quest wondered aloud. "Everyone does something for a reason, me included of course. If you would be so kind to answer, what is the goal or ideal that-that defines you." Quest paused looking absently though intently at the floor. He continued quiet. "I find that is how to quickly find the core of a person."

That and I'd like to figure out how your damn powers work already.

I just want to go to sleep at home and forget any of this ever happened. Kealie sighed. “Fine. Sure. Okay.” I really thought the outside world would have more monsters and less people pestering me with annoying logic. She started for the door, Eej following her closely.

Vance decided to let her lead the way. She wasn't this grumpy last night. Maybe she's on her period or something.

Kealie headed out the door and picked a random direction to walk in. Sooner we find the deer, the better. Then I can go do something productive, like sneak into the woods and practice fighting trees. Speaking of trees, she soon entered beneath their canopy and found herself relax a little. People were people, and trees were trees. Both had their pros and cons, but somehow she still managed to live with a healthy dose of each. A lot of things are like that—opposing views, cats and dogs, work and free time, speech and silence. Speech and silence particularly—it’s always hard to know what to say, or if you should say anything at all, but it usually balances out in the end. “Vance?”

Miyako turned to Hyron and looked out across the wide expanse. Miyako was breathless looking across the landscape of wonder.

The ship was stuck up against a craggy outreach of rock, jutting out of the water. The beach, if you could call it that, was a mess of jagged rocks, stony hands reaching up out of the land.

Beyond that the landscape was a mess. A tangle of putrid marshes, overflowing with the rain and hard cliffs and canyons jutting out the swamp. The land was wild and untamed, and the effect was furthered by the cascading rivers of waters falling down cliffs and into marshes, washing out towards the ocean. It was a swath of dark greens, dirty browns and hard grays. Salty spray and rotting decay.

The contrast making the picture vivid. Making it beautiful.

But by far the most striking part of the whole scene was the floating islands. Chained to the land, plots of swamp and stone drifted above the land, shadowing the already gloomy landscape. The islands had thick, black chains wrapped around them or seemly reaching into the core. They let of streams of water, the downpour in the downpour that further mudding the swamp.

"Tides" Miyako whispered.

Geff gazed at his boat with dismay. Admist the ship captain's effusive groans, Yerik clambered out of the boat. He reached for his amulet, hesitantly raising his shield. To his relief, it popped up as easily as if nothing had happened. Whatever had cancelled out his abilities seemed to have been only momentary. With that resolved, he turned to examine the location they had shipwrecked upon.

What he saw stopped him cold.

Floating islands. Giant chains. Swampy shores.

HIs concentration broke, and rain spilled over his rapidly paling face.

"No," he whispered, his gut twisting. "Oh, no, no, no..."

"That felt good," They said.

They gave Miyako a puzzled look.
