programmer_137 Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 We all know that the Reckoners aren't in the Cosmere…but they could be Spoiler for The Reckoners Series (Serious spoilers for all three books) Spoiler Megan can travel between dimensions and universes, so theoretically (with enough power), she could get into The Cosmere or the the Skywardverse or the Legionverse or the Alcatrazverse or the Rithmatistverse…you get the picture. One problem that a friend brought up is: Megan doesn't have enough power to get into the cosmere, because it is so different from the Reckonerverse. But, if there was an Epic with amplification powers, then theoretically she could get into the cosmere. I feel like she does have enough power to maybe get into some of the non-cosmere universes (such as the Skywardverse)

The Reckoners is not part of the Cosmere, but one of they main character's power is reaching into alternate dimensions. I want to see some epics on Roshar! Brandon Sanderson I wanted to avoid multi-verse theory type things in the Cosmere, in part because the Wheel of Time delved into these concepts, and even before working on the WoT was looking for ways to keep the Cosmere distinctive from it. Beyond that, multiverses (along with time travel) really play havoc with continuity. I felt the cosmere was stronger if I kept to the three Realms--that's complex enough. Assume that in the cosmere, while different possible futures/pasts do branch (and can be seen) things like Allomantic gold are NOT looking at other realities--and there is only one reality, once events actually occur. This does mean that time travel into the past is not going to be a factor in the cosmere. Once I stick Earth in, the cosmology and things doesn't work. The cosmere is a dwarf cluster, and it's a dwarf galaxy, it's a cluster of stars. Number one, the fact that I don't want Earth to be in the cosmere. And so all the books that are referencing Earth, I don't put in the cosmere. programmer_137 Posted May 15, 2022 Author Posted May 15, 2022 I figure it isn't plausible that Megan could get into the cosmere, but it is possible. She could also get into the other "Variation of Earth" universes (Skyward, The Rithmatist, Alkatraz)
Elegy he/him Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 Brandon once said that in cases like that, "it would not be the cosmere, it would just be be coincidentionally an identical version of the cosmere that just through random happenstance popped up". He really wants the Cosmere to stay out of interdimensional stuff ^^ 1
