"It's very different." He reached down and scooped some dirt up, crumbling it to dust and letting it fall. "There's no dirt there, only stone. Trees move away from you if you try to touch them." He stayed silent for a moment. "Where I'm from, we have a thing like the Evil your legends talk about. Voidbringers. Well, actually, we're the voidbringers, Fused would be more accurate. The one who rules them, he killed your god, many years ago. I think it's what caused the Shades, but I can't be sure."

Willem asked "What happened to make the dirt be rock?" then remembered that none of them would hear. His shoulders slumped slightly and he backed away.
