+Oltux72 he/him Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 So, the Aethers produce spores. Can we assume that their ultimate goal in that regard is reproduction? I would think so, but it is not absolutely clear. Given by the description they could also be an inapt form of attack or a likewise not very successful attempt at communication. Nor do these possibilities rule out each other. Does this tell us anything about their life cycle? So far it looks like: moon -> spore -> vine, but there it ends. Are human bodies just the wrong host or culture medium for the spores? (Aether of Night) Spoiler In that unpublished work people can bond individual aether instances/shoots/incarnations(????) to gain an Invested Art? Are the people of Glorf's planet not advanced enough to have learned that or is she as a low class girl just not privy of such information? (Threnody) Spoiler And again we see silver. Can we conclude that that silver is simply the metal used to kill Invested creatures? Is the witch who was mentioned the first one to bond an Aether? 2

[...] Is the witch who was mentioned the first one to bond an Aether? Not a lot has been revealed about how magic works on that world, but considering there is someone called the Sorceress, there likely is some knowledge of an Invested magic system on that world. We also don't know yet if the spores are themselves Aethers, or just related to Aethers, or if the Sorceress is herself using one or more Aethers. I can see a useful weapon present though - on some world which doesn't know about this someone suddenly throws a handful of spores at someone's face and then they are incapacitated. 20 minutes ago, Oltux72 said: (Threnody) Hide contents And again we see silver. I was thinking a similar thing, along with the use of silver chains to produce anchoring affects, but I also think the fact that the spores react to water is interesting as it also potentially relates to Taldain and the white sand, which also needs water in a magical sense.
iceblade44 he/him Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 We knew for a while that Brandon has made new Aethers. If the 12 moons and 12 seas all relate to an Aether, that be very interesting. Ignoring the old set. Right now we have 5 colors. Emerald, Azure, Crimson, Gold, and Midnight(likely black.) Heres hoping we get fleshing out of all of the colors though that ain't realistic. Since this seems more about introducing Aethers, then full diving into their possibilities

And midnight suggests the Aether of Night. So it seems to me like the Aethers have been added to mainly. 1
