Boosting a non-shardic world's manifestations of investiture?

Question

Posted

Most worlds that don’t have a shard in residence have only a small amount of naturally occurring investiture there, and the magic users themselves are generally weaker. Could Hemalurgy be used to create beings of great power using these ‘lesser’ systems, stapling smaller chunks of investiture together to make a stronger entity, then allowing that entity to pass on it's strengthened Connections to the system and it's investiture to it's descendants, similar to how lerasium mistborn allowed Allomancy to become significantly stronger on Scadrial by passing on their spiritual DNA to their descendants?

I think that this might work, due to this WoB

You've said that Inquisitors could have children. Would those children have a better chance at being Allomancers compared to if they had the kids before they were Inquisitors?

Brandon Sanderson

Yes, but there also could be...complications.

Could work, but like with Lerasium Mistborn, it would eventually dilute back

I didn't think inquisitors could even have kids. Thought they were sterile like kandra and koloss.

I think the children would be born too warped to be productive in any way tho.

Hmmm. Hadn't thought of that. But it would make sense, since they're technically not humans, who are breeding with humans, so the end result very well could be sterile.

I think the most effective way to do this is give them a bunch of nicrosil compounder medallions so that they can raise their level of investment.

But that is only a temporary enhancement that likely cannot be passed down to future generations.

You could pass on the medallions.

Well, yeah, but it wouldn't change the innate strength of the system and it's users.

You are right that it would work for boosting the powers of those individuals who used the medallions though.

Depending on how Allomantically burning Hemalurgic spikes that are Blanked in Identity works, perhaps you can splice yourself into a higher form of being that has enhanced children.

What happens when you burn a Hemalurgic spike?

Brandon Sanderson

Burning a Hemalurgic spike would have the effect of splicing your spiritual DNA to that of the person's that is in the spike, which would have some very strange consequences.

That could be interesting...

I wonder what else you'd splice into your spiritweb along with the powers, since Hemalurgy kind messily rips off pieces of spiritweb, unlike when you transfer Breaths, which would be an example of a more "clean" removal of investiture.
