Question

In Oathbringer, we see Dalinar summon some kind of "energy" to operate the Oathgate.

Could he summon the Stormfather as a shardblade if he progressed enough in his oaths?

I realize that this might be problematic, since Dalinar's oaths are to unite, not devide, which is kind of a shardblade's whole deal. However, Dalinar is also less bound than bond-smiths used to be, so maybe it's possible.

That does seem to be the case. He's not pulling all of Stormfather to construct the Shardblade or Shardblade-equivalent but it could operate the Oathgate. We don't know any more about this, just that previous Bondsmiths did not get access to a Shardblade, and probably also not a Shardplate.

Historically the Bondsmiths have never had blades, that is not specific to the new state of things.  I think this is because, unlike all the rest of the radiant spren, all three of the Godspren already have a Physical forms they are anchored to (the Storm and the Tower, and I assume the Nighwatcher's manifest body we saw).  If Im right, it means that if a bondsmith in General or Dalinar specifically CAN force a blade to manifest, it could prove disastrous for the Spren's pre-existing Physical form.

And since the Hightstorms of Roshar are what keep most of it's life going...yeah, I could see how trying to summon the Stormfather as a shardblade might be a bad decision.
