Preventing shardbearers from summoning their blades

Um…slightly morbid-ish question here. If a shardbearer’s arms get broken in battle or because they needed to be contained in prison and their captors didn't want to kill them, could they still summon their shardblade, or would their perception prevent them from doing this?

I would say that they could summon it still but would (obviously) be unable to use it well. A better solution would be to cut their arms off entirely, or simply kill them.

Cutting off their arms wouldn't stop them from summoning their Shardblade, just from being able to use it very well.

Putting them in an aluminium cell might work better for preventing them from summoning their Shardblade.
