Hello guys and gals,

I´m 26 -year old fan from Czech republic with up-and-down history with Brandon´s work. I´ve quite liked Elantris when it came out severel years ago but I haven´t really paid much attention to his other books. Leter when Warbreaker came out I couldn´t resist and downloaded it... And ironically, I seriously disliked it. On the other hand becouse of it I was again in touch with his work and now I´m reading Mistborn which is one hell of a good concept! The final empire was for me page-turner on the level of Martin´s ASOIAF books and so I am now in the third of "Well of ascension" and occasionally I amuse myself by the first Alcatraz (unfortunaly I´ve been spoiled about some outcomes of Mistborn but I don´t mind very much).

Anyway I´m huge fantasy nerd who just finished his college studies and I am not going to dishonor my kind by getting job soon (although I have already part-time job). So if you want something tell me...

Thanks both all of you!

I'll resist making any puns about Czeching this thread out and instead just welcome you to the board! I'm curious as to what you disliked about Warbreaker, though. I found it a great book, personally!

- As I felt there were not very deep or even interesting characters.

- Perhaps it seemed to me that the political intrigue was too much similar to Elantris except it was situated in "The Empire" instead of "Underdogs". Except of course, who the real "bad guys" were. Which brings me to...

- It was kinda underwhelming to discover that real culprits were people who were mentioned to do something, but for the most part were just kinda "there" and I could´t feel anything about them. Of course there is a gang of characters who are antgonists with face but those acted more like peons in the bigger picture.

- Then there´s the thing with Returned. Brandon´s intention was to invoke "city of gods" in the age of it´s glory. But Returned are gods pretty much only in the sense of local convention. They have some known magic but they are on life support so I guess only remarkable thing is their origin. No wonder that Lightsong wasn´t taking it seriously. At least Elantrians were supposed to be almost omnipotent.

- Somehow we were supposed to get that Vasher and his pals are some supreme kind of Returned who can defy the stated laws. I simply would like to know how.

That´s about it in a nutshell.
