Writing Group

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm part of an online writing group, which started in connection to Brandon's recorded class on WriteAboutDragons.com. Unfortunately, over the past six months, members have gradually faded out, though we still have a core group of five. We, ideally, would like a few more, and here seemed like an appropriate place to look, so if you are interested, please respond below with any comments/questions or message me directly at [email protected].

Best!

Jeff

Hello Calmseer,

Thank you for your reply. Every week each member posts a submission 1-2K in length, while at the same time reviewing 3 posts from the previous week.

Most of us are writing fantasy/sci-fi novels, so posts normally take the form of a chapter or part of chapter. There are also sometimes shorts or novellas posted, and when that happens the review process for them is usually broken into 2k chunks (e.g. an 8K submission would be reviewed over four weeks).

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

- Jeff

Calmseer & Endurant Archivist, great! We actually post on a forum, so each writer has their own thread, in addition to there being separate areas available for side discussions about books, authors, etc. Because of this though, it will take a few days to approve new entrants. With that in mind, I'll get back to you both mid-week about joining.

If you have any further questions in the interim though, please feel free to ask.

- Jeff

P.S. Calmseer, the only requirements we have are that if you're going to post, you do your reviews, and we're all genre writers (primarily fantasy/sci-fi), of course.

Calmseer & Endurant Archivist, thank you for your patience. To get started, please register for the general forum here:

http://help.forumotion.com/register

Then email me at [email protected], so I can provide you with our specific writing forum, which you will then request entry into, and we will of course approve.

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to ask them here or via the email address provided. Hope to hear from you soon!

@All:

We actually have our own writing group here on the site anyone is welcome to join. It's in the reading excuses subforum based upon Brandon's writing excuses podcast. There's people who fade in and out from it, and activity is sometimes irregular, but for the most part there's usually submissions every week or two, and there's usually always feedback to go around.

@Jeff:

I'm sure Silk (the person who runs it) would love to have your group merge here into our writing group, if you would so desire. That said, everyone is certainly free to pursue other writing groups if you so wish.

Eerongal, thanks so much for the information. If our group remains too small to sustain itself, we'll definitely consider merging with the one on this site.

WriteNowDave, just responded to your email. You should be good to go, but if you run into any issues, drop me a line here or via email. Thanks!
