  1. Hey all, I'm the tour archivist for the San Rafael stop. I just wanted to brainstorm questions, etc. before Thursday! I hope there are some other people coming... it is midday. I'm hoping I'm not the only one who shows up =P
  2. I took an old halloween costume for a top/shoulder piece. It tied around the neck, and had a hood attached. I used this as the base of the cloak. I cut off the cloak part of the costume (I actually think it was one of those dress like things, where you slip it over your head and it's like a cloak going all the way down, but no closure in front.) I didn't have a sewing machine, or access to one, so I had to be creative. I went and bought a bunch of grey fabric. I had wanted to get a decent variety of greys, but the fabric store I went to was super expensive, so... I made solid bits that went over my shoulder out of this fabric, and cut horizontal to the ground at the bottom of them. I handsewed and fabric-taped them to the cloak. Then I made a bunch of strips, which I either sewed or taped or both to the top. The fabric tape was actually really strong, and I had to do a lot less handsewing than I expected. Someday, I may make a new one, since the one I made isn't quite as nice as I had wanted, and the details are a little off from what I imagined, but it was the best I could do with the supplies I had. I just put some pictures in the cosplay section. I wish I'd had A LOT more fabric, but it's modifiable. I am SO EXCITED for WoR!. Yeah, I've read about the cosmere.
  3. I made this mistcloak for halloween. I had no access to a sewing machine, so it is entirely handsewn or fabric-taped.
  4. I made this mistcloak for halloween. I had no access to a sewing machine, so it is entirely handsewn or fabric-taped. Here, I'm landing a jump.

  6. I made this mistcloak for Halloween (2011). I had no access to a sewing machine, so it is entirely handsewn or fabric-taped. Here it is mid-jump.
  7. Hey hey. I've hung out around the forums for a few years now, and only just got around to making an account. Hi everybody! I started with the Mistborn series in 2011, and very quickly devoured pretty much everything else Brandon Sanderson had written at that point. And I still do. The Stormlight Archive (or, at least, WoK), is definitely my favorite. I once made a mistcloak for Halloween, when I was living in Zurich, and I was pretty much the only person who dressed up (not really celebrated there) but that's okay because it looked AWESOME.
  8. So I'm the tour archivist for San Rafael. This is actually my first post on the forum, having hung out around the forums off and on for a long time. I like the idea of sending the cards back, I think it will make for a much better finished product. Also, I have a number of glassblowing friends. I could probably convince one of them to make some spheres and send it along before the end of the events... I'll see what I can do. I already have a homemade mistcloak... Or I could mold some epoxy around a little LED, make a sphere that glows.
