KChan she/her Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 So I'm in the process of working on a project, and I thought I'd turn to you guys for a bit of inspiration. Any input you can give would be a great help, so speak up! My question is this: When you think of the Cosmere as a whole, what image(s) come to mind? What ideas, concepts, visuals? Anything you can give me will be awesome, so thanks in advance!
Aeshdan he/him Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 So I'm in the process of working on a project, and I thought I'd turn to you guys for a bit of inspiration. Anything you can give me will be awesome, so thanks in advance! A bunch of planets floating in space, connected by ironlines. The whole thing against a grid.
Satsuoni he/him Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Mists actually. Black, White, Translucent, glowing, cold and warm.
KChan she/her Posted March 4, 2012 Author Posted March 4, 2012 Hm, interesting. Thanks, guys! You've given me some neat things to think about. Anyone else? The more input I get, the better!
Feloxia she/her Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 For the Cosmere universe...it changes a lot. Sometimes it's this picture of galaxies/space with a crystal-like thing in the middle-ish (though not exactly. It's kind of hard to explain D:). Sometimes it's kind of a universal "solar system" thing....And it's always kind of vague, since I haven't given too much thought on it. But for the books/planets specifically, it's a lot clearer. When I think of Scadrial I imagine a lonely red/brown planet (for the trilogy). For Roshar it's a lot livelier, with some more color, but kind of...desperate. Most of the images I come up with other than things like that are directly from the books.
Shivertongue he/him Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Waffles. Delicious waffles, with lots of syrup. 1
Eri she/her Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Smoke in various colors. The mists, the stormlight, the thing from Nightblood... every Shardic energy seems to be portraitable with smoke brushes (if you use Gimp, Photoshop etc.). Numbers 3,10 and 16. Therefore various math stuff. Steiner triplets and tha game of SET. Binary system, binary trees... OK, I'm just weird. Shardworlds, forming some mathematical structure. And Hoid, of course. And a sphere, shattered and the pieces moved apart, but still remaining aligned. It's hard to describe, but kinda like those Dali pictures with deconstruction of things; only the parts are more irregular, like... well, like shards. I'll attach a skech to show, what I mean. --- I did the skech (attached), it's something like that. Only the parts should be a bit further away and match each other better in shape, and look more rough, like shards of glass, and look crystaline, and darker/more transparent, and... well, skeching with a mouse is hard, and I don't draw very good anyway. I hope you got the idea. And the background should probably be more like space — stars etc. 1
Tulir he/him Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Storms, lightning for Roshar, with ashey volcanoes for Scadrial. Just some formless energy floating in space, or a group of crystals (already mentioned). Maybe some computer/programming stuff, because of binary and 2^10 is 1024, 16^2 is 256, but that is all I'm coming up with. I might have more later.
CrazyRioter she/her Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 for Nalthis I imagine something vaguely cartoony, with bright colours. For Scadrial, obviously the mists. For the cosmere as a whole I imagine the three realms layered like an onion with the physical on the inside, the cognitive in the middle and the spiritual on the outside. shading off into the place beyond the realms where the dead that "move on" go.
